Autographed Gaming Goodies for a Noble Cause

Autographed Halo: Reach Print

If you don’t have any autographed gaming paraphernalia, then you aren’t a real gamer. That’s right, you heard me! Luckily that can be easily remedied through the purchase of any of the items currently up for grabs by RvBCanWest. A series of annual auctions where all the proceeds go directly to Child’s Play (a charitable organization whose goal is to improve the lives of sick children worldwide), this year’s roundup includes everything from an amazing, autographed Halo: Reach Noble Team art print to a bad ass, signed Gears of War Lancer to a semi-cool, signature-slathered Prestige Edition of Modern Warfare 2. There’s something in there for everybody so check out their full list of auction items, and then open up your wallet and expand your not quite awesome collection. Your slightly sparse shelf, and sick kids everywhere, thank you!

Spartans Never Die: A Halo 3 Charity Event

Halo 3 Charity HogOff

Whether you have a thing for the occasional splatter or you just like the feel of a massive turret quivering in your hands, Halo 3 Wheelmen has just the festivity for you. Taking place over the entire month of June is an event called the HogOff, the goal of which is to acquire the most wheelmen or the most hog turret kills. The entry fee is $1, and all the proceeds will be donated to the family of one of their members who recently lost his fight with cancer. Considering the prizes are various pieces of autographed Halo swag, the paltry asking fee truly is a meager offering. If you don’t have the time or desire to climb the Halo 3 Wheelmen leaderboards, fret not because they are also conducting random prize drawings from their entire pool of participants. So drive or don’t drive, gun or don’t gun, but support this worthy cause if you find yourself able. IceDevil, and every other MIA-classified Spartan, thank you.

Reach for this Autographed Halo 3 Poster

Autographed Halo PosterWhether you like Halo collectibles, charitable causes, or things that are just really freakin’ big, this amazing video game-themed wall adornment is definitely for you. Currently up for grabs on eBay and spanning an impressive 90″ x 32″, what started as a Halo 3 launch poster turned into a gamer’s dream with the addition of numerous Bungie employee autographs. Devotees of that particular developer will love the numerous signatures but those with a heart will appreciate the fact that all of the proceeds from this sale will go to Rebuilding Together Dayton, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing home rehabilitation for low-income Dayton homeowners (particularly the elderly and disabled). The donation will be made in memory of Berserker Barage, a long time Halo fan who left us too soon. Bid on a poster, remember a friend, and score some swag. You know you want to!

The Blanket Project

Babies are awesome. Not only are they freakin’ adorable, but they are also the primary reason one of our favorite pairs of body parts, the ever popular mammary glands, grow to delightfully large proportions. In my opinion, and hopefully yours, that’s reason enough to support The Blanket Project. Coordinated by GivingChiX, a charity-focused division of GamerchiX, gamers will be coming together tomorrow, February 20th, to make baby blankets for Solid Ground (a group dedicated to helping women, children and families overcome homelessness). Monetary donations are appreciated as each one is expected to cost $10 USD apiece. If you are in the Seattle area, you can also help with the actual making of the blankets. Now go support the babies! They’ll appreciate it, even if they can’t tell you.

Reminder: Play Halo TODAY

Be a HeroAs I’m sure you’ve heard, Bungie is donating $100 for every thousand players (up to $77,000) that sport a red heart emblem and play at least one game of Halo 3 or ODST online. You have until 23:59 PM PST tonight to get that game in so even if the rest of your day is looking busy, I’m sure you have a spare 15 minutes to sign in and frag your fellow charitable-minded friends. Change your emblem, load up some Halo, and play. You know you want to. (How to make the red heart emblem: Press Start, select Settings/Appearance, select Emblem, select the Hearts icon and Circle background, back out to the Appearances menu and select Colors, set Emblem Primary to red (maroon/brick/rose depending on which game you’re playing), and set Emblem Secondary to white.)
