The fact that the latest installment in the Halo series has yet to hit store shelves has not stopped a plethora of Reach-themed treats from flooding the collective community’s insatiable palate. We’ve witnessed the glory of hand painted cupcakes and also an incredibly sweet version of the Legendary Edition box, and now we have an edible console to add to the mix. Created in celebration of a significant other’s birthday, this marshmallow fondant-covered Halo: Reach dessert features a carrot cake Xbox with white chocolate ganache filling and a matching chocolate Guinness cake controller. To say it’s nothing short of a huge success would still not be giving Christa, the person behind the creation, enough credit. Let’s just say she’s more than earned her title of being a Master Baker!

The Legendary Edition of Halo: Reach, with its plethora of included goodies, is an irresistible box of truth and deliciousness. When the exact same thing is crafted from flour, sugar, eggs, and butter though, the flavor factor goes through the roof. Made to look like the container that holds the awesomeness of the premium version, this Halo: Reach-themed cake skipped the actual contents and instead loaded up on creamy white frosting and moist chocolate cake. The decorative details, which consist of painted and embellished fondant, capture the tasty box in all its glory. I don’t recommend eating the actual game, however this particular edition can probably be safely inserted directly into your sweet-obsessed oral cavity. I would say enjoy, but it’s Halo. In your mouth. Of course you’ll enjoy.

The moment we finally have Halo: Reach in our hands will be a delicious one indeed, but is there a way to create that tantalizing taste before September 14th? If you’re Death By Cupcake, the answer is glaringly obvious: make the game in mini cake form! Made for a friend who just happens to be an Associate Producer at Bungie, these confectionery treats consist of chocolate cupcakes topped with Reach-themed, hand painted fondant toppers. The logo, along with the helmets of both Emile and Jun, all snagged some face time on these scrumptious, small desserts. You may have noticed that a sixth cupcake is cut off on the top of the picture though, but there’s a good reason for that. It’s because it’s totally baked.

If you fantasize about Master Chief as frequently as I do, you’ll love the chocolate Spartan fellow gamer Greg recently whipped up. Made with a silicone mold crafted from a Mark VI McFarlane action figure, the edible version allows you to gently roll your tongue along the Spartan’s head and savor every single drop of deliciousness that slowly oozes out. Let’s just say this is one treat that will melt in your mouth, not in your hands. Otherwise, perhaps you can join me in brainstorming ways to make this little guy cream-filled. The explosion of flavors would be well worth the spattering of white drops dribbling down your chin. I have a thing for plasma grenades. Specifically, planting them on enemy vehicles or, more frequently, directly upon teammates’ backs. Grenadenhaver shares my passion, except his focuses primarily on the frag grenade. Known to hurl them when knocking on death’s door, his good friend Jim made him this Halo 2-inspired chocolate cake in a noble attempt to capture the essence of his “death from the grave” playing style. The details include Halo green buttercream icing, oven-dried cake crumbs, and an edible, fondant fragmentation grenade, but I do believe the main ingredient is pure, unadulterated awesome. In fact, it looks so delicious that this is one explosion I wouldn’t mind happening right in my mouth!
