A word from Deepcee about the past, present, and future of ODS Steve:

It was almost two years ago that Steve was born. What started out as a silly little doodle that I posted on HBO turned into an idea for a comic featuring the little guy soon after. Never did I imagine that there would be so many people following his weekly adventures. I’ve always wanted to be more involved with the community, and starting this comic has given me a way to contribute. I would like to thank each and every one of you who has followed Steve’s adventures all this while.

Steve is not quite done yet. There are plenty more Scarabs to fight and loads more Covenant to Splaser. Steve’s new home will be the home of the Spirits of Fire. Things are not quite set up yet but rest assured, everything is set in motion and I will be making a post on the Spirits of Fire blog and on HBO to let everyone know when the next episode goes live. Once again, thank you for reading this little tale I have to tell. Stay tuned for more!

A word from Luke about the past, present, and future of Grin + Bear It:

A while back I started drawing Halo comics, with the sole intention of making my friends laugh. Then, a little over a year ago, I got an email from bs angel offering me a weekly spot on one of the world’s biggest, and hawtest, gaming blogs. Multiple nerdgasms followed. Since then, the comic’s given me so many opportunities; early access to the Reach beta (thanks to angel), a ticket to the premiere of Halo Legends (thanks to Mr. Pointyhead of Xbox Live), and several mentions on the Bungie feed (thanks to urk, who also gave me one of my favourite critiques of the comic: “They always make me laugh. Can’t post some of the stuff for obvious reasons. Shishka would cry.”) to name a few.

But most of all, I’ve been able to read all of your comments each week, and I’ve enjoyed that more than anything. Angel’s always said to me, right from the beginning, that it’s all about me having fun with it – and thanks to every single one of you I have. Thanks.

If you still aren’t bored of me yet and want to keep following the comic, I’ve kindly been offered a place at HBO by Mr. Wu – which I’ve kind of bitten his hand off for. It’s not up and running just yet, but I’m sure you’re all familiar with halo.bungie.org so you know where to check in the near future :D

A Pretty (and Permanent!) Cortana Leg Tattoo

Long before Halo: Reach introduced the Hologram armor ability, our collective heart had already been captured by the original. Cortana, an A.I. whose purplish/bluish appearance consists of a projected holographic image of herself, is definitely one of the more fan-favored characters, but Outrider81′s dedication to her shines brighter than most. With a desire to display his love for everything Halo, he decided to get a Cortana-themed tattoo on his leg. The piece finds its inspiration from a variety of different places, “including the late great Micheal Turner, Halo concept art, promotional art for Reach”, and the individual styles of his talented tattoo artist. Taking a total of approximately 15 hours in the chair, it’s considered, at this point, to be a work in progress. I have no doubt he’ll finish it in a timely fashion though because he did, after all, make a certain girl a promise. And we all know how Cortana feels about that particular subject!

Friday Caption Fun, Round 110

Many of you were sick, on vacation, or simply not available for at least a few days this week. While excuses were undoubtedly varied, the source of 99% of the absentee issues can probably be reduced to two words – Halo: Reach. I’m sure, as three full days have passed, you’ve completed the campaign, customized your Spartan, and perhaps even built something in Forge World. Or maybe you’re like me, slowly working your way towards all of the above. Regardless of what aspect of Reach is keeping you busy, I do hope you’ll spare a few minutes for our customary Friday festivities! Before we begin though, let’s start with the traditional recapping of last week’s responses.

“Red has learned the first lesson of not being seen: not to stand up. However, he has chosen a very obvious piece of cover…” (porge)

The packed up Elite isn’t the only thing moving on to Reach, because our frivolous Friday antics are making the same move! I can’t be sure when they will officially come to an end, so I highly recommend participating while you can. And with that being said, caption away!
