Halo 3 Legendary Helmet

If you were planning on entering the Most Creative Use for a Halo 3 Legendary Helmet Contest, you have approximately 12 hours to get your entry in. That’s 720 minutes to find an alternative use for that humongous, green head covering so grab your camera and snap a picture of it already! My barren inbox anxiously awaits the glory that is your submission.

Most Creative Use for a Halo 3 Legendary Helmet Contest!

Halo 3 Legendary Helmet

Chances are, somewhere around that haphazardly decorated house of yours, you have one of the Spartan Mjolnir Mark VI helmets that came with the Legendary Edition of Halo 3. Mine has superior dust collecting skills but as Halo: Reach and the accompanying statue inch closer, finding a more useful purpose for that massive head covering grows more and more imperative. You’ll help me with this rather noble mission, won’t you? Discover and snap a picture of the most creative use of a Halo 3 Legendary helmet and you’ll win even more helmets to add to your Halo collection! (The prize includes two McFarlane Toys Halo 3 Helmet 3-packs: red w/ Mark VI, EOD and CQB and variety pack w/ gray Rogue, Master Chief’s Mark VI and an orange CQB.) Because I’m nice, I’m even going to throw in a Gamer Graffix 18×24 Halo 3 wall cling. Those up for the challenge should read the contest specifics (located after the jump), grab the nearest picture-taking device, and get to finding a unique use for their big, green helmet. And no, not that helmet. I did say big after all.

Halo: Reach Friends and Family Beta Code Giveaway

Halo 3 Reach Screenshot

The Halo: Reach beta is slated to begin on the very soonish date of May 3rd. For one of you though it will start the very second you piece together a Friends and Family code. Hidden within this website are five strings of digits that, when entered in the correct order, will magically unlock the Halo: Reach beta four days before its official release. I am one chatty bitch, meaning  my archives are quite extensive, so I will make your searching a little bit easier. All five pieces of code are images that are located in Halo-specific articles written within the last year. Some may be in obvious places. Others may require a click or two to unearth. But they are all here somewhere, just waiting for you to find. To ensure the code does not go to waste, it will be published in its entirety on my Twitter feed around 5 pm PT (you need not follow me to snag it, simply check the page whenever you feel so inclined). Happy hunting, happy Halo-ing, and… wait, is that part of a code I see?

Inappropriate Halo: Reach Emblem Contest Winner + Gallery

When traversing the virtual battlefield that is Halo 3′s matchmaking, green kiwis, white ducks, and yellow-spotted sunny-side-up eggs are often seen gracing the right arms of numerous Spartans and Elites. Occasionally you can spot a flesh-colored penis crafted from a horizontal gradient and grenade as well, but the inappropriate emblems are not quite as easy to come by as they were back in the frequently flaccid Halo 2 days. According to agdtinman (an always proper UI/Graphic Designer at Bungie), one flowery selection almost passed inspection for their most recent title. He was kind enough to detail exactly how the thought process behind the design went down. And believe me, it went down. Way down if you know what I mean.

The Unofficial Inappropriate Halo: Reach Emblem Contest

Emblems

The artistic among us have been submitting their original artwork to Bungie’s official Halo: Reach emblem contest in hopes of one day seeing their unique creation grace the arms of many a matchmaking Spartans. Inspired by those who made last week’s Weekly Update but whose submissions were ultimately deemed invalid, I’m excited to announce a fun little activity called the Inappropriate Halo: Reach Emblem Contest. Perhaps your creation was a bit too risqué for the virtual battlefield but that just means it’s perfect for our festivities. The rules are simple: compose a standard Halo emblem that is tasteless, unseemly, and all sorts of inappropriate. Entries will be accepted until February 6th so read the rules after the jump, dust off that Paint program, and go doodle some noodles!
