Gamer’s Hell

The official Rock Band drum set is noisy, unattractive, and flimsy at best. Thankfully there have been an abundance of mods designed for both aesthetic and durability purposes. This particular mod is definitely one of the most impressive ones I have seen to date.

Featuring beautiful window screen mesh heads, this wooden Rock Band drum set is more than easy on the eyes. EDrums.info has a complete tutorial with detailed instructions (including pictures) both for the drum kit and also the drum rack so you can try your hand at making it if you so desire. While I have the desire, I certainly don’t have the skill so I will just have to picture these gorgeous drums while I pound furiously away on my less than optimal ones. Curses.

What path do you follow on this geek lifecycle flow chart? It doesn’t describe me in the least bit so even though it’s fairly humorous, I seriously doubt its overall accuracy. I mean, blogging about diagrams? Who the hell does that?

After faithfully powering up my beautiful pink laptop every morning, I always spend a few minutes scanning the top news stories on CNN.com, my trusty and informative homepage. Rarely do I find video game news in their headlines so imagine my delight upon seeing the title “Rights of a Husband Gamer” featured front and center on their main page. Of course I hit the link and immediately devoured its content. The article was exactly what it sounded like, a case of a husband seeking the basic rights each and every gamer should be entitled to. No wonder this was on the front page. The atrocity of the situation is simply beyond anything we can imagine.

One of my most memorable gaming moments happened back on Halo 2. I was in the middle of an intense multiflag game on Waterworks, playing defense and heroically protecting our flag with my life. My team had recently started moving our opponents’ flag when I died. I respawned directly in front of their flag, which was in the doorway to what I thought was our base. I gleefully picked it up and promptly ran it into the base towards the score point. My teammates were frantically hollering something at me but I couldn’t focus on what they were saying as there was a horde of enemies directly in front of me. After I died gloriously close to the capture point, someone informed me that I was actually at the enemy base and had taken the flag back to where it originally spawns. Oops.

Are you feeling guilty about something video game related too? Get it off your chest at Game Secret like this poor guy did. I now look back and laugh at the error of my ways, hopefully he will be able to do the same one day.

How many times have you been happily playing your PSP only to suddenly stop and find yourself thinking, “I sure could use a sandwich cookie PSP bag.” I know, right? Whether you prefer the seductively delicious butter sandwich cookie or the delightfully indulgent chocolate sandwich cookie, I am here to make your favorite guilty pleasure a reality.
