Sometimes game displays, especially those that have highly anticipated launches, are elaborately decked out, hype-inducing masterpieces. Other times they look like they were crafted during a bout of boredom. This Halo: Reach pre-order contraption, which was recently spied at Dave Mark’s local GameStop, definitely falls in the latter group. Made out of cardboard, plastic, and some shiny, silver wrapping paper rolls, its intended appearance is that of Master Chief driving a Warthog. Well, either that or a go-kart with a big ass turret. Oops, I probably shouldn’t have said that. Spoiler alert! SPOILER ALERT!!

If you thought the Covenant were the only race who enjoyed the act of glassing, then clearly you’ve never met Veggie-San. Employing a similar strategy that thankfully omits any and all planetary destruction, this particular Halo fanatic uses her talents to create beautiful pieces of art. Her latest effort, one that required the meticulous arrangement of numerous colored shards, resulted in an amazing stained glass version of the instantly recognizable Halo Legendary icon. Featuring an Elite skull, two crossed UNSC Combat Knives, and a shield, she called upon the copper foil method (which involves wrapping the pieces of glass with copper foil and soldering them together along the length of the seams) to complete her mythical masterpiece. As it’s a bit on the delicate side, it is worth noting that tapping dat glass is not recommended.

There are a few things in life I simply can’t get enough of, and Halo and pussies are at the top of that list. That’s why I was so incredibly excited when my adorable eight-week-old kittens provided the perfect opportunity for an epic combining of the two. Using the logic that if I loved all things born in the Halo universe then surely my furry friends would too, I ordered Mittens and Chief (who are collectively referred to as MC) Halo cat toys. Made by crafter extraordinaire Sparklehorse, their golf ball-sized Master Chief helmet, Cortana head, and plasma grenade are 100% wool and stuffed with catnip. At only $2.29 USD apiece, the kitty’s version of Halo was considerably cheaper than my slightly more expensive $150 Legendary Edition, so I think it’s safe to say they’ll definitely be getting Reach as well!
