Even as an Old Skool Halo gamer, I have to say “meh” at the reintroduction of yet another Blood Gulch remake. The Hologram looks brilliant, the new Warthogs(Rocket Warthog leaked during Beta, whoops), looks sexy, and everything looks familiarly crisp from the beauty that is the Reach engine, but the Blood Gulch part of the map looks bland, uninteresting, and unfit for the new gameplay mechanics we’ve seen introduced since the last incarnation of the map in Halo 2. The new parts, the ones “outside the canyon” looks far more interesting, though; can’t wait for this weeks update.
I think it looks great, I’m excited about the open range concept, I hate invisible walls.
The hologram looks promising. Bungie still needs to give me a new Prisoner, a few new maps came close, but not close enough.
BLOOD GULCH!!!
Bungie Day has genuinley been one of the best days of the year for me this year. I had an amazing day, spent loads of it with friends in this wierd outside place, came back and enjoyed Halo with friends, discovered my head could be set on fire, and now, Blood Gulch…
As seen in the video, one of the uses would be making people waste sniper rounds, or rockets, or laser shots. Scouting into an enemy base to see just how many are camping inside, and with what weapons also comes to mind. Or for playing bait and leading people into an ambush, and hear them yell “I’t s trap!”.
Heck, I know I’d use it, even if it leaves my real body exposed. Wonder how long it lasts without taking it’s limit damage, though. And wondering if there’s a maximum distance you can walk away from your spartan. Still, it looks very promising.
meh, not a fan of even more armor abilities, especially ones that sucked when they were gun abilities in Perfect Dark Zero. I am, however, very interested in what that ring is doing in the skybox. The map is set on one of the Halo rings, but all maps come from the Reach campaign???? hmmmm.
Did they actually say that all the maps would be from the Reach campaign? I remember they said they’d be ‘inspired’, but not taken straight with a few touch-ups. Whatever the reason, I’m just happy we’ve got a new Blood Gulch :D
So wait… is ALL of that playable? That massive hill leading up to another beacon looks like a challenging and insane fight, and like someone said, barreling down in a warthog would be crazy. I doubt everything shown is playable (obviously) but I like the new look of the map, even if I didn’t think we needed another BG.
What happens if you try to send a hologram across a gap? Will it’s AI know how to jump? Will it stop before the gap? Will it just walk over? Or will the AI become self-aware and smack you across the face for trying to turn it into a Lemming?
BLOOD GULCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Watched this earlier today on RvB. And obviously the only thing on anyone’s mind should be Blood Gulch… and bewbs, you can’t forget the bewbs.

I could cry tears of joy…
Was anybody else reminded of the days of Halo 2′s ghosting when watching the hologram part?
Totally. Looking forward to trying it out. Looks like the player’ll be stationary when you use it, though.

I agree, very interesting indeed. And yelling “It’s a trap!” is always proper, and never unoriginal. I look forward to doing it myself.

So, who’s with me on the ‘Blood Gulch Only Playlist?’
EVERYONE!!!
The scene at the end with the banshee flying around and the tank shot make me feel like this could be one helluva big map.
I know, it like traveled for `10 secs, which is a pretty long time for a tank shot :O
Bets on it being an invasion map?! Any takers?
