GameStop Employee Mike, We Salute You

gamestop

When you bring up video game and entertainment software retailer GameStop, you are often faced of a barrage of complaints ranging from their notoriously low trade in prices to not carrying titles from older but still regularly used systems. Mike, better known as MGH1138 in the gaming world, has a different story to tell though about something that happened there just today. As told by him:

My buddy’s birthday is today. He likes playing Big Team Battle in Halo but he doesn’t have the map packs necessary to play them. Naturally, I preordered ODST for him. Today during my lunch break I get an email from GameStop. Their system crapped out and my preorder didn’t process. I had an “oh, shit” moment. I didn’t get this guy anything else for his birthday.

Sometimes it pays to avoid panic. I still had 45 minutes on my lunch break so I ran to my car and went to the nearest GameStop. It’s in Cumberland Mall in Atlanta, GA (right around the corner from where I work). As popular as ODST is going to be, I thought for sure that I’d be SOL and just wasting my time. I was somewhere between disappointed and furious.

I explained to that guy behind the counter, who, coincidentally, shares my name, that it was my friend’s birthday and that my preorder for him was canned by a system error. Not only did Mike have a copy to sell me, he hooked me up with the preorder Sgt. Johnson deal as well. He’s one hell of a guy, and I told him so. Everyone in the Atlanta area should buy their games from Mike at the GameStop in Cumberland Mall. He deserves it. He knows what customer service is.

Today we salute you, GameStop employee Mike from the Cumberland Mall location, for saving a fellow gamer’s birthday. Sure, it was a fuck up from your company that caused the situation in the first place but because of you, everything turned out ok. And because you’re so helpful Mike, I have a quick question. When I was promised a Johnson preorder bonus, I was expecting something totally different. You got anything special for me too by chance?

Evening Wear Suitable for a Plumber

mario evening wear

Video games and clothing come together quite often, but typically in the form of casual shirts and accessories. Craftster user montyfull, a fashion graduate with a soft spot for all things Nintendo, decided to change that when she found herself faced with the daunting task of designing her senior collection. After grabbing some sequins, satin, and lightweight chiffon, she did what any avid gamer would do and created some absolutely stunning Mario-themed evening wear. The high-end assortment features everything from Mario to toadstools and even a Bob-omb. A plethora of pictures from the runway are waiting for you after the jump and let me put it this way- once you’re done looking at them, I don’t think you’ll give a rat’s ass which castle the princess is actually in. Unless she’s wearing one of these gowns that is.
