I’ve gotta say, I’m not a big anime fan, but I am certainly interested to see Halo being taken in different directions. This worked out for Dead Space and the Matrix, so I’m hoping to see a similar success for Halo.

  2. What that Sonic guy said was spot on. I gave it a thumbs up. Did I do it right?

  3. Willy says:

Nice, it looks like it will be good. I can’t wait for it.

  4. neoxdonut says:

    Cant wait.

  5. Triptup says:

    Good tymz yall!

  6. snotwoogle says:

whats up with the samuri elite thing at 52 secs? i think it looks alright, anime is a bit odd for halo i think

    • Araknoros says:

yeah, im interested in it but im really not sure how this is gona work out. Heres hoping for a good show

      • snotwoogle says:

i think itd be good if they kept the halo soundtrack..sos no sad anime music gets in.

    • HellCat says:

I think its showing either human history like its going to do in the first ep or random anime

    • CB says:

Thats an honor-guard elite. You never actually fight them but you do see them in Halo 2 during cutscenes where the brutes are replacing the elites as the “right hand” of the covenant.

      • snotwoogle says:

oh right…i know, doesnt look much like one….they have big head bits but that looks a bit weird.

      • Fezzer says:

You fight them in Halo2 when you kill the Prophet Regret.

        • snotwoogle says:

Actually its not a elite honour guard…its a elite from before the covanant look….found this on ign :They do show Elites wearing smaurai armor. An episode named “Duel.” It has a watercolor look. Sounds like this examines Elite’s fuedal state before joining Covenant. Production-IG did this episode and did a “beautiful-looking piece.” There will be an all-CG episode in Legends.

  7. qwerf says:

    agreed

  8. rowboat 000 says:

Badass. Bad-ass. Bad. Ass. I love it.

  9. Billdebeast says:

Halo + Star Wars + Manga? Brutes that look like gorillas? Teenagers giving each other flowers?

    FTL

    • Billdebeast says:

Although It probably will be interesting and I will be following it.

  10. FishType1 says:

Looks like someone opened a big bag of wtf on Halo.

  11. HellCat says:

Well a week ago i left my halo craze faze, for over a year now i was hooked, i’ve stopped playing H3 (Forgive me) but this is new, something different, very interesting but i’m not sure that its going to work. It looks like theres no plot. But hey this is really cool. Too much stuff all at once is going to kill me. Its called overannouncement superhappyshock syndrome (i get it a lot)

  12. Skaboosh says:

Well, I know I’m gonna love the soundtrack at least. Interested to see the energy sword duel play out. But I definitely can’t wait to see more. :D

  13. Pete Cooper says:

Having taken a look at this and seen the studios involved, they have the very best people on the job, with some of the greatest names in anime involved. I just think the art direction is absolutely awful…

I will sum up my thoughts thusly: excellently executed bad idea.

  14. Sailor Harry says:

Once I saw samuri-brute… Jebus Chris.

Why do the Japanese think that the more feminine a male hero looks, the better it is? I’m not talking about the female spartan. I’m talking about the blonde bloke who hands out teddy bears and points pistols at people’s heads.

The only one that looked interesting was Casio’s, (the CGI). I think I’ll survive if I miss this coming out.

They may be the best names, but its not like you would Square Enix make a FSP. They may be one of the best names in the gaming industry, but they shouldn’t be making those types of games.

  15. A Shaky Shotgun says:

Interesting, but I’m gonna reserve judgment until I see a complete episode.

  16. snorkle256 says:

Don’t forget that one of the people helping create this was also responsible for Appleseed. How awesome is that?

I’m starting to wonder if this is what the current ARG is going on for… ?

  17. JLay says:

I think it looks cool. I wish that the flying speeder bike/X-wing hybrids were in the real game. Seems a better answer to the Banshee than the nerfed Hornet.

Also, did anyone notice that the running Spartan that gets caught by the gorilla hands (banhammer!?) has “1337″ on his chest plate? Too funny.

  18. davyboy94 says:

    IM IN AWE O.O

  19. Gazas says:

To be honest, it looks better than I expected.

  20. Looks better than what I thought. But I still wanna cry about it. It makes me sad that this is the direction the franchise has gone. I wish they at least would have used CGI and not cartooniness. It would have made it much more prettier. But I like the space bike he is riding. Thats a plus.

  21. Visitor at home says:

It looked dodgy in some places. But I’m still looking forward to it.

  22. Scotty-Bob says:

    I don’t know… We ask for a Halo Movie… we get this… Kinda lame!

  23. Well, it looks interesting enough. I’ll watch the previews on Live though. I hope the voice acting is at least decent.

  24. DTA MoonDawg says:

It looked… different. The flower part made me facepalm though.

And if Steve Downes doesn’t do Master Chief’s voice, I’ll probably be extremely annoyed.

By my final verdict is… meh

  25. Das Kalk says:

    this looks pretty effing awesome

  26. Sorry for the second post, but, when that Spartan is being picked up by what I’m assuming is a Brute, did anyone notice the number on his chest is 1337 (leet)? Hah.

On the flip side, there aren’t supposed to be that many Spartans… stupid canonical half of my mind.

    • It’s around 1:33 if anyone wants to know exactly where.

  27. snotwoogle says:

what are those space bike things?

  28. Fezzer says:

I like the expansion of the story, but I think this is going to make most hardcore fans cringe due to inaccurate representations of canon or characters.

  29. Sarge Tomzilla says:

I, for one, am interested to see what they have to offer. I’m not what you call a fan of anime, but some of the artwork does interest me(while others had me going “…eh?”), and I’m more than willing to give it a chance.

In defense of the “Samurai Sangheili”, well, come on, take a look at Honor Guard armor. Now, it appears that one of these will be doing a history of the Haloverse, so, for example with the Honor Guard armor, simply take it back a few hundred, maybe thousand years, and you have something extremely similar to what the Japanese used in medieval Japan. It fits with their warrior culture(as tvtropes put it, think of Imperial Japan on crack when thinking of Sangheili culture :P )

So yeah, some of the artwork seems iffy, others are just bloody great, and I’m more than willing to give it a chance and see what they have to add.

  30. ODST Sarge says:

I’m going to get Halo Legends for Blu-Ray, watch it on the PS3 and laugh at the irony. lol

  31. Zwooosh says:

It seems that the really cant choose if they’re gona use computer animation or the traditional drawn anime…
Still… we already know the music will be awesome :P

    • Well, the reason there are different styles of animation going on is because this is not one full-length film. It’s broken up into different stories, and each of the various studios has their own approach. For example, one studio could be using all CG to tell a story about a squad of Spartans, while another studio uses traditional animation to tell a story about a Grunt’s life, or something.

  32. Zwooosh says:

And sorry for the double posting… but maybe this is a smart marketing technique!

Microsoft is just trying to get the Japanese interested in the halo franchise :O!

  33. vashkey says:

Everything looks cool to me except may Toeis thing and the Elite history stuff is a little iffy.

Did you guys see the Brute in Toei’s? It looks more like a Pokemon version of a Wookie than a Brute. It has no not, seems to entirely lack a snout. It’s size is over exaggerated too, holding the Master Chief up like a child. As I recall Brute only hit around eight feet tall. the one shown in the trailer looked like it was thirteen fett tall and it appeared to be using the Fist of Ruckt. I guess it’s possible other Gravity hammers existed that look like the Fist of Ruckt.

As for the Elite history thing, my only complaint is the animation looks a bit stiff. But I couldn’t see much from the trailer, so I’ll give it a benefit of a doubt. All else in the trailer looked cool, Bones’ part taking the cake.

    • Sarge Tomzilla says:

If I recall correctly, over on HBO, Frankie said the Toei part is non canon and for lulz. If I recall correctly.

      • vashkey says:

Yeah, I just saw that a few days ago so I feel better.

  34. GeneralCupcakes says:

I’m not sure if im ready for Halo Mecharobots rigged with missile launchers and gatling guns. jk

As long as they dont put in what i said above it should be okay.

  35. Mr Viper says:

“Arbiter, what does the Recon say about his pwnage level?”

    “IT’S OVER NINE THOU-”

    No, I can’t, it’s too easy!

  36. SonofMacPhisto says:

I’m most looking forward to a story featuring the Elites. The final shot of the Spartan and Elite facing off bring major chills up the spine. This is going to be a lot of fun.
