Fundfax Fairraiser Update

the fundfax fairraiser

Despite the fact The Fundfax Fairraiser had to end early (please remember you can always donate via Marissa’s page at absolutely any given time), there are still plenty of updates about its current status. According to my very rough estimates, the community managed to raise well over $6,000 in four very short days. All goals I had made were surpassed in the first 24 hours and for that I would like to express my deep gratitude to each and every one of you. It may have not run the course I had originally intended, but I refuse to call this anything but a success!

Prizes continue to roll in and several things have been added to the various prize pools (which are outlined below and have also been added to the main page). My goal is to air the drawing via a live video stream broadcast on the internet but I have no experience with that and was expecting to have more time to iron out the details. Anybody who can offer advice on a website to use for this and any other pertinent information that could be beneficial, please let me know! Otherwise, I will continue my research and post the date and time when I have finalized the details. It will be coming, and it will be coming soon. Much love, and thank you for the continued support.

Ustream and Stickam are both free to use and pretty straightforward. You’ll need a mic (either external or one that is built into a laptop) and video camera (again, external or built into a laptop). You just create an account, which will give you a URL for your “channel”, and then you can go live. You can also record the stream so that people can watch it later. If you want more detailed info, send me an email!

Also, over $6,000? That’s pretty amazing!

We should talk about alternatives to Paypal for future fund raising events. I don’t think I want to use them any more given how they treated you.

I’ll take more info about both of those services, definitely! Thank you for that.

When the fundraiser is completely wrapped up (all funds have been transferred and prizes are completely shipped), I will begin talks with PayPal about what happened and how things like this need to be coordinated in the future. I will happily pass along information I come upon, although I certainly don’t expect to get a lot based on their past communications.

      • I say you ask them to match what we made. We all know they have the money and they shut down the fundraiser roughly 10 days early…you raised $6,000 in 4 days so them matching the $6,000 would definitely be something I’d aim for as a bargaining chip. Otherwise, go to the press (http://consumerist.com/)...

I’m lost as hell on streaming video. I can’t have a camera connected to the internet in my house. I get bored, I get curious, next thing you know, I’m getting 600,000 hits on Elitegangbang.com or something.

And as much as it pains me to say it, I don’t want that!

    Congrats on the success, Hawty.

Here’s a little article from CNN Money about alternatives to Paypal. Perhaps these companies will be a bit more appreciative of your business.

Also concrats on all the money you raised! I’m sure Merissa’s family is very grateful. I always remark on how caring and helpful the gaming community is, especially when it comes to children.

And mentioned the ridiculously low number on the E305 plate (#170/5,000 I think.)

I don’t know how to turn the grenade on, LOL! Nor did I see the specific number on the E305 faceplate and I didn’t want to open it. But you covered both of those things so thank you!

There’s a slider switch directly opposite the laser (the clear rubber part).

You’ll giggle out loud. You know, like you did that one time.
