Due to unforeseen circumstances, The Fundfax Fairraiser will be ending tonight at midnight PST instead of running through July 7th. If you were planning on making a donation but had not gotten around to it yet, now’s the time! My sincerest apologies for the inconvenience.

I don’t get paid til the first….lets say i still want to make a donation to the cause even if it doesn’t enter me into this competition thing…is there a way?

I take it they didn’t like a ton of money coming in to an account in a very short time frame and were going to hold the money?
In any case, it’s sad that they are the one causing this issue.. Maybe some publicity into the ways of charitable contributions might cause them to revise their policies or at least draft ones that will allow future causes like this to not have any issues.
After expressing that I was willing to make absolutely any changes they requested in order to be compliant with their TOS and continue the fundraising effort, I was informed that “PayPal does not allow Fundraisers.” Not much I can do to appeal that one. At this point, I have prioritized meeting their demands in an attempt to not lose my account and the funds I have already acquired.

This is absolute BS. This fundraiser is for a good cause and as my girlfriend pointed out, PayPal offers ‘Donate’ buttons for users to use on their sites…I’ve always equated donations with fundraisers and charities. Perhaps you should rename it a Charity?

They do offer donate buttons. They also offer fundraising widgets and applications. It’s frustrating when they can make up rules as they go and you have to comply or risk having your account, and money, frozen indefinitely.
Transfer the money elsewhere? Then call up and argue with a supervisor. I would DEFINITELY report this to http://consumerist.com/. PayPal NEEDS some bad publicity and closing down a fundraiser for this little girl Marissa is absolute bullshit.
I have not ruled out taking action at a later date. As of right now, I stay focused on transferring the money and finishing up the fundraiser. Perhaps the ninjas will be released when that is completed. :)
Please report if you do so, I would greatly enjoy seeing PayPal smeared, and by Ninjas none-the-less :D

I am terribly sorry to hear about this I wish so much that I could help out in some way.
But, maybe I can, Is there any banners or anything like that that I could maybe have put on my Machinima website (looked on Marissasbunny.com, didnt see any)? Ill have to talk it over with Some of the other members, but maybe we could do something that way?
Again I wish I could do more/donate, I just don’t have anything to give at the moment.

We don’t have any banners per se, but on the right hand column under “help Marissa” there’s link graphics of the button variety. You’re welcome to use whatever you need from there to construct a banner, or I’ll talk to one of my people and have one custom made to your specifics.

I was reviewing Paypal’s policies and it only says for fundraisers you need prior permission, so I don’t understand why they are being such jerks about it :( Although you’re not allowed to use paypal for anything gaming related….not sure where that one came from…
I don’t know why either angelofbacon. I have worked hard to meet their demands only to have them create new ones each time. They have made it clear they aren’t willing to work with me on this so it is what it is. We managed to raise a lot of money in four days though so I’m very thankful for that. :)
So do it for four days, then take a day break, then do it for 4 more days! i know that won’t work, but this is weak sauce…paypal hates babies

The paypal issue can be bypassed by having people make “donations” Its the same concept. I support an animal Rescue site and donate “x” amount a month. In return the post an animal that needs a home on their page. So same concept to have the fundraiser juct change the name to Donations etc… Should work.
When will you be drawing the winners at random?
I’m in the process of sorting it out. I want to do it via a live video stream but I haven’t actually done that before. I was expecting to have a lot more time to figure it out. I’ll be posting an update either today or tomorrow so stay tuned for that. :)

I’m really, really sorry about that. It certainly wasn’t my choice to end it early, and I apologize you didn’t get a chance to donate before it had to be closed. Even though my fundraiser has ended, Marissa’s page is always open. :)
