It Ain’t Easy Being Blue

Watch this extremely short video. Go ahead, I’ll wait. Done? Ok, now leave a sarcastic comment about how I just wasted 19 seconds of your life. After you’re done doing that watch the video again, this time paying close attention to which team is arming the bomb and which team actually scores. At this point I would normally offer you a brilliant pearl of wisdom but I got nothin’. Maybe you do?

That must be the worst lag I’ve ever seen.

    How’s that even possible?

Blue team armed the bomb, and when it blew up Red team got the point.

      • Where does it show that blue team got the bomb? I saw red team score… AND THEN bomb respawned in the center and blue team picked it up. Am I watching this vid wrong? It’s possible. Someone please explain. lol

Watch the player indicators, plus the base you are looking at is red base so the team scoring is actually blue team.

Either you have mastered the art of sarcasm, and for that I would applaud you, or you really aren’t the Halo player I thought you were, and for that I would shed a tear/facepalm.

Looks like its time for someone to brush up on the rules of halo. Or actually, the rules of any ball-based sport would suffice. (with one possible exception)

Can anyone tell me were it says that blue arms the bomb?
If blue would arm the bomb wouldnt the red base blow up?

The base you are looking at is red base. The map has distinctive characteristics that make that clear. The bomb counts all the way down to one then respawns in the middle. If Red team would have disarmed it, it would have stayed at the base and then become available to pick up.

      • Oh snap! I see it now. The bomb starts counting down at red base like :10 into the clip.

When I was playing Grifball once with friends in matchmaking, there was really bad lag (REALLY BAD).

Anyway, one of us armed the bomb then the other team got the point.

It didnt matter anyway because that was their only point all of the whole game.

    Right, here are three possibilities.

    1) There is shenanigans going on and this is a custom game, where the scoring has been modified, however I do not know for sure if you can engineer a gametype to work like that.

    2) Different shenanigans involving tampering. Likelyhood unknown but not impossible.

    3) Assault is more broken than I thought. One Grifball DXP weekend a few months back; I had the bomb, and got pummeled by a Hammer just as the bomb hit the pad (got the bomb armed message), but the gravity blast sent the bomb flying off the bad to explode in the corner, denying us a point. In a different game, I saw someone make a touchdown, bomb go off, but no point awarded, forcing us to make another run.

A shame Halo 3 is not as well engineered (in some cases) then its predecessors.

It might have been a custom game, you can set that up in the scoring to get negative points, but this isn’t really the same is it?
In any case, we’re watching from blue guy’s POV, and the bomb is highlighted in blue, meaning his team was in ‘possession’ so to speak. That’s how you can tell blue team armed it.

This isn’t faked, this is in matchmaking and the reds actually go on to win the game 1 to 0.

Here is the game – http://www.bungie.net/Stats/GameStatsHalo3.aspx?gameid=707582817

Thats okay (For the thanks you will give me in advance)

This is actually my vid, and you are watching from my point of view. The vid is in my Fileshare if you want to download it and watch from different angles. It was matchmaking, and we did arm the bomb, the halo gods just didn’t see it fit that we score…we must have angered them, lol.
