Perhaps you remember Marissa, a 19 month old baby girl who was diagnosed with Infantile Spasms when she was a mere two months old. Her stuffed bunny Fairfax travels the world, sharing not only Marissa’s story but also spreading awareness of the serious pediatric epileptic condition that she, and other young children, suffer from. Approximately eight months ago we pulled together for a community project titled Fairfax ‘n’ the Chief in honor of her father (who is a fellow Halo fanatic). Today I’m proud to announce The Fundfax Fairraiser, a very special fundraising effort that will benefit sweet baby Marissa and those that are helping her through this very difficult fight.
The Fundfax Fairraiser gives you, the passionate gamer, a chance to win some absolutely incredible video game-related prizes. For every $1 you donate, you will receive one chance of winning everything from a Kotobukiya Steel Spartan 12” Figure (covered in more Bungie autographs than you could ever begin to count) to an EA Sports Pack to an autographed copy of The Godfather II to one of dozens of games spanning across the various platforms. So, you are interested in trying to win some cool stuff while helping out a worthy cause? Let’s take a gander at the things you just may find yourself the proud owner of when this is all said and done, and then we’ll get down to the nitty gritty details of it all.

For every $1 you donate, you will receive one chance (in the form of a numbered virtual ticket) that you may put towards the prize pool of your choosing. State which prize pool you would like your tickets to go towards in the message box. You may divide up your donation however you choose however if you don’t specify, your tickets will automatically be placed in Prize Pool #1. You will receive an email (check your spam box) within 24-48 hours confirming your donation and telling you the numbers of your virtual tickets. (Numbers will be updated daily on the main page.)
- The prize list is subject to change, and new things will be added as they are received. Everything will be kept current on this main page.
- The fundraiser will be open for two weeks and will close on July 7th, 2009 at 11:59 pm PST. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the fundraiser will be closing on June 27th at midnight PST. My apologies for the inconvenience.
- Winners will be drawn live with a random integer generator via a video stream broadcast over the internet (details of which will be announced at a later date). Winners need not be present to win. Winners will be sent a message to the email address associated with their account and they will then have seven days to claim their prize. Please make sure your contact information on your account is up to date.
- Prizes will be shipped in a timely fashion after being claimed. We are not responsible for items that are damaged or lost during shipping, but rest assured great care will be taken in the entire shipping and handling process.
- There is no limit to the amount of tickets you may purchase, nor is there a limit to the amount of prizes you may win so give generously and often to increase your chances of winning!

Kind sentiments are greatly appreciated as well. :)

Do it for the cause, not for the because.
I’m so lame it hurts sometimes.

I’ll be searching the couch cushions for change.
Posted by Apollo Running on June 23, 2009 at 1:45 pm
Awesome! I didn’t think you would use the title I randomly came up with =]
I shall be donating to this more than worthy cause. Also hearts for Marissa <3<3<3<3
Posted by bs angel on June 23, 2009 at 1:49 pm
It was you! I couldn’t remember who came up with that, I just remember seeing it in the chat box. I’ve been pondering over the name of the fundraiser for two weeks and that one is just the perfect amount of cute and silly that this thing needed. :)
Posted by Apollo Running on June 23, 2009 at 2:25 pm
glad I could help in some way haha
Posted by daviper07 on June 23, 2009 at 1:50 pm
I have no luck when it comes to these types of contests, but this is definitely for a great cause! Gonna go raid the coffers now!
Posted by Skelbrute on June 23, 2009 at 2:05 pm
Great prizes and a great cause! Give whatever you can!
Thanks ahead of time to all who contributed!
Posted by UncleGramps on June 23, 2009 at 2:32 pm
Wow, awesome job, angel! You managed to score some amazing prizes! I’m sure you’ll raise a ton of money given those great prizes and the very worthy cause. I’ll certainly be buying a bunch of tickets, and I’m sure a bunch of the other folks over at 8-Bit Brigade will as well!
Posted by bs angel on June 23, 2009 at 2:44 pm
OMG, I knew I would forget to thank someone! You, and 8BB in general, were invaluable in the organization of this. It took me everything to simply not cut and paste your entire article (especially the rules which I’m sure you saw your heavy influence in!). Thank you so much for all your help and advice. It really made a difference in the finer details of everything. :)
Posted by UncleGramps on June 23, 2009 at 2:52 pm
We’re happy to help! You did all the heavy lifting, and it seems like you’ve done an excellent job so far. I can’t wait to see how much you raise and I look forward to watching the drawing!

Dear Angel I’d like to state that the N64 jewellery bundle…. shows a Dreamcast bundle
Posted by bs angel on June 23, 2009 at 3:02 pm
You are totally right. Thanks for the fix!
Posted by TheChrisD on June 23, 2009 at 2:57 pm
Hello, epically beneficial exchange rate :D
Posted by SpoonGuard on June 23, 2009 at 3:01 pm
Looks like the N64 bundle is actually a Dreamcast bundle.
Posted by bs angel on June 23, 2009 at 3:04 pm
Just fixed it. Let us never speak of my error again!! ;)
Posted by soulofaqua on June 23, 2009 at 3:19 pm
You know that you just killed your image amongst those that still remember the classics and may be still fanatic about them, right? -cough-me-cough-
Posted by bs angel on June 23, 2009 at 3:27 pm
Psh. If it were an Atari, there wouldn’t have been any issues! That’s what I grew up on. :)
Posted by soulofaqua on June 23, 2009 at 4:28 pm
I’m on my second go through growing up. xD I never had an Atari 2600 or Sega Megadrive but I got both now, the Megadrive more recently than the 2600. Oh and today I bought a replacement for my broken Gameboy Color, it’s Magenta :3 or pink according to my brother. That totals my amount of videogame systems(including handhelds) to 11.
Posted by DethPwn on June 24, 2009 at 7:02 pm
And me! My Duck Hunt high score is 313,700 on two ducks!
Posted by Captain Spark on June 23, 2009 at 3:50 pm
Lots of great prizes to win. Lets hope this generates a train load of money for Marissa and her parents.
Great work on this angel.

I’m so happy to have been able to help with a donation for this contest! (I donated the Mario coasters & buttons in Prize Pool #1). I hope you’re able to raise a ton of money for this most excellent cause! I’m also very happy that you were able to get so many prizes to be donated… yay! :) Fantastic work! :)

Posted by Mikey Rocks on June 24, 2009 at 1:58 am
You could raise so much more money if recon was added to one of the bundles. Everybody would go for that one and then i would have a better chance at the others.
Posted by tb2571989 on June 24, 2009 at 4:06 am
and knowing my luck, I’d get it. I don’t have XBL.
Posted by Apollo Running on June 24, 2009 at 7:41 am
Offering recon will only bring people who want recon and don’t care so much about the cause. “OMg raiconex, heres a doller from my moms credit card i hope i win!” Yea it would probably bring in a ton of money but it wouldn’t really spread awareness. I dunno, just my thoughts.

(Great work bs, this is awesome.)

Posted by bs angel on June 24, 2009 at 12:41 pm
I am extremely grateful to Bungie for donating tangible, autographed Halo 3 collector items that will still have value in three months and beyond. They took a lot of time and effort putting those thing together, and for that I am appreciative. :)

Posted by bs angel on July 2, 2009 at 2:44 pm
Soon. I found a site last night that live streams video and is easy to use. I’m in the process of learning all the smaller details about it and then I’ll announce the final date as soon as I have it. I imagine it will be within the next week!
Posted by marissa's dad on July 2, 2009 at 2:40 pm
Prizes are listed up there ^.
BSangel’s still working on the mechanism for announcing- the fundraiser was supposed to go until the 7th, so she was supposed to have a bit more time to work out the technical kinks. Soon, I’d guess, but I don’t know any more than you do.
