Halo 3: ODST Firefight Gameplay

spacer dropping and shocking

Halo 3: ODST, along with allowing you to experience the battle from a completely different perspective than the overly familiar Spartan viewpoint we have all grown accustomed to, is also introducing a brand new cooperative campaign mode called Firefight. The gameplay will feature wave upon wave of Covenant enemies attacking your squad with the activation of Halo 3 skull modifiers automatically increasing the difficulty. It’s also worth noting that you will get a four character service tag in this Horde-esque mode. I’m calling ‘1337′ right now. I’ll leave ‘n00b’ for you suckers.

Horde mode was the best thing in GoW2. I was doubtful if i would have time to play, and therefore even buy ODST. Now I will find a way. Firefight is the gamechanger for me.

I wonder how you get the turret though. Wait for it to be detached from its base or just rip it off?
Maybe they have a different animation for the ODST where you flip a switch to remove it.

What I’m confused about it how they manage to carry those things without the super strength.

I presume it is because these look like portable turrets, which means they would already have to be able to carry them around. Plus, it would be even easier to carry because of the lack of tripod. On the flipside, these things must kick like a couple of mules for the ODSTs, they already kick pretty hard for a Spartan.

I imagine a Vidmaster Achievement for this game will involve 4 player co-op, skulls, and most importantly, tears.

  8. I wonder if I’ll be able to work my service tag into ‘Dave’ somehow.Hopefully I won’t get stuck with ‘Drag’ again. It’s demeaning.

I’m extremely happy to hear about Halo-Horde. I loved the Survival mode in M2:D and I love the fact that it will be co-op capable in ODST. I hope this is a feature that they continue to use in their games for a long time to come. Having a fun game mode that is separate from MM is awesome.

I’ve narrowed down my choices for my tag:
“SP16″-as in Spartan P16, a shoutout to my tag in Halo3, and is ironically what I used in COD4, because lets face it, I put Halo into almost everything I do.

“PETE”-as in Peter, but shortened, since that’s my name

or my current favourite “LUKE”, a shoutout to an ODST in Halo 3 of which I grew attached to =P

I’ve also been thinking about all the dodgy tags you could have, but there’s almost too many to list.

Hopefully this will be accepted just like H3 without the short campaign and not like gears 2 which was good but not as good as HALO3!!!!

This looks sick, i always did love ODST’s and now i will be one. Can’t wait to be Romeo!

I’m kinda torn between SC84 or just Sean for my tag. Incidentally, my gamerscore happened to be 1337 for a very short while. No, I don’t know how I got that number either.

I always said they needed a Horde type mode on Halo and now they do I might never go off this game now as I did have my doubts about ODST.

  17. This mode is a dream come true. I love the horde mode in GoW2, but I’m not big on 3rd person gameplay. So now we have 1st person, Halo world and horde-style gameplay. I so can’t wait!
