Those individuals still enjoying the real-time strategy side of the Halo universe will be pleased to hear that Halo Wars has new content available for your downloading pleasure. The Strategic Options Add-on Pack, which will drain your Xbox Live account of 800
, includes three new gameplay modes for your adorable little vehicles and soldiers. Keepaway is a capture the flag-esque game, Tug of War requires the fielding and maintaining of a strong army, and Reinforcements will keep you on your virtual toes as you are granted wave after wave of troops. I heard a story where this dude was playing tug of war in real life and his arms got freaking pulled off. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I think releasing DLC Game Modes is kind of stupid. They should have been in the game to begin with, but I understand they had dates to fulfill and didn’t have the time. If I still had Halo Wars, I probably wouldn’t buy this anyway.
Am I the only one who thinks 800 points is outrageous for 3 game modes??? not even maps?

yeah, it’s overpriced, but the thing is that Ensemble Studios (or Bonfire now, I think) doesn’t control the prices.

What is sad is that Microsoft can charge 10 bucks for 3 new play modes and people will buy it. I love HW, but I refuse to pay 10 bucks for 3 new game types. If this was H3, I wouldn’t pay 10 bucks because they didn’t have CTF, Territories, Zombies in the intial release, so I am definitely not going to buy this “update”, no new units, no new maps, or no new missions means weak sauce.
Neh, never was a fan of RTS’s. Nothing against Halo Wars, they’re just not my style.

I wanted new maps and units. The new gametypes aren’t any good.

Let’s compare, shall we? Halo Wars has 3 new gametypes for $10. Gears of War 2′s All Fronts Collection has all 11 downloadable maps PLUS 7 new maps PLUS a new chapter of campaign, all for a mere $20 at retail price. I think I’ll save my money. Did I also mention the AFC comes with a collectible poster and strategy guide?
well i downloaded them, played them through all a couple of times and i do have to say, they’re actually pretty fun. if you would rather play an objective game instead of slayer in Halo, then you’ll probably find some level of enjoyment out of these gametypes. and the fact that you don’t have to have the strongest army to win some of these is a neat experience. yeah ten bucks is pretty steep, but where would Halo be if it was just slayer?
i think Ensemble did a pretty good job with the Keep Away gametype. mr meyagi and i had alot of fun against the computer with that one. 3v3, legendary, crazedone1988, mr meyagi and i; crazed died and dropped out with 2 to 1 flag caps and us in the lead. the AI had us pinned with me having one base and meyagi with two, they had the rest. the AI had us out numbered and out gunned and took the lead at 3 to 2. but we managed to spam them with enough banshees and hawks and getting to the flag quick and keeping it behind our bases like bandits. we ended up winning 5 to 3 after 71 minutes. my greatest Halo Wars game to date. here’s the game: http://www.halowars.com/stats/StatsGame.aspx?Id=76526840-5486-5189-7430-000000000000
overall, i like them. i still need to play more though to get a real good feel for them.
I made the purchase and was dissapointed bcus it just costs too much
infact i was hoping forsum new units such as controllable pelecans and them covenant sransport vhiecles and the other scarab…you know, in them pics.
