Regardless of how early you called it, the last round of our video game-themed March Madness tournament has arrived. Who will get your vote in the Championship Game? As much as I loved CE, I gotta choose Halo 3. The Xbox Live element can’t be beat. Plus, it has a BR. I know it’s blasphemy, but I like any BR better than a single-shot pistol.
Damn right CE is winning. IMO, it’s a far, far better game in most respects than H3, from the storytelling to the level design to the enemies. Ah, to fight elites with a overpowered plasma pistol in one weapon slot and an overpowered human pistol in the other…

Tough one. But ultimately its the XBL factor the decides it for me (don’t even try to compare ghetto xbconnect to it). Plus the ending (to some degree) of the story arch was gut wrenching and altogether nostalgic.
All right, don’t get me wrong, Halo CE was an amazing game and I played it a ton (I am a massive halo fan), but Halo 3 upped the ante in my opinion. I has better multiplayer, better graphics, better sound, saved films, forge, screenshots, and the largest community of all the games. I loved the original, but Halo 3 beats it all with the amount of replay value and content it contains on that disk.

I’m sorry. I really think that Halo 3 is the better game. Bungie actually put thought into it. And the online multiplayer experience is much better.
Halo 3 is currently winning :(, but the thing is, a great deal of Halo 3 players have never even played Halo CE!!! They were too young when it came out :p
I’d be interested to see the statistics…I was 19 when CE came out. I’m guessing most kids who just got a 360 and Halo 3 and are like 14 don’t spend much time on HMB.
Or that could just be me liking to think that I’m surrounded by like-minded adults (or even near-adults) on this website instead of pre-pubescent children who shouldn’t be here…angel is too dirty for them (in a good way) =)
Wrong. I’m only 15. If you watch the list of upcoming birthdays on the forum you’ll see that a lot of people are pretty young. Dirty in a good way? What the fuck does that mean? Angel isn’t dirty enough. I think she’s holding back a bit.
I think the reason I’m so partial to Halo 3 is because it was the first halo game I really played through and continued to play. Then I bought halo Ce thinking it would be fun and I was kind of disappointed. It was a great game if graded against other games of that era but against today’s standards it’s a disappointment.
I can see how H3′s multiplayer would be the deciding factor for a lot of you, but I don’t have Live, so it’s all about the Campaign for me, and H:CE’s is still fun to play, while H3′s has gotten kinda stale.

I fail to see how unrealized development of one title would count as sufficient evidence to claim a victory over the other. What’s spinning in your tray is what molds your experiences and forges your memories, not bygone code and unplayable scenarios.

Evolution=change over time
It is my belief that the change is for the better, in this case.
So, yes, despite the fact the Halo: Combat Evolved started the series, Halo 3 ended it and has made vast improvements on Halo.
Also, Fall of Reach started the line of Halo novels, but looking back and reading it again, the huge number of errors in it are extremely irritating. Of the three I have read (Fall of Reach, The Flood, and Ghosts of Onyx), I would have to say Ghosts of Onyx was the best, regardless of the fact that Fall of Reach was the first book in the series.
I love Halo 3 but you just can’t beat those early memories. Seeing that first huge elite pommel down on a bunch of marines, cruising through an explosive, flood infested racetrack etc…..

I got my first console (A PlayStation) on Boxing Day ’01.
First game I played was a MTV Snowboarding Game.
But that and the other 2 games I had were nothing compared to Crash Bash & Worms. ;)
I have never looked forward to a game like I did for Halo 3 and I was and still is not dissapointed. Halo 3 wins
Honestly, the story from CE makes this vote easy. Nothing wrong with the story in H3, but CE takes that cake hands down, even if the cake is a lie.
I vote next year (if you do this again next year angel) that there should only be one Halo game in the bracket.
to the point for next time, agreed. either make it the winner of this so it can try to defend for a second coming or h2 so its gets a chance to shine.

both are good games. Halo 3 lacks a good storyline, but halo lacks graphics and a good array of weapons. its a battle of content more than a battle of halos.
I disagree with you about the storyline. While it is true that you do kinda know what to expect, unlike in the first Halo, Halo 3 does pack along a TON of backstory and other plot-related material, namely the information found in the Terminals.
But if you’re talking about plot twists and the like, I agree. Halo 1 had ‘em, Halo 3, not so much.

I’m going to have to go with Halo: CE though.
No other game will give me the amount of nostalgia and entertainment like the original Halo.
Although, the screenshot system in Halo 3 is amazing. lol
This matchup is B.S. Call of Duty 4 should have beaten out Halo CE, not to mention Halo CE should have been in the protagonist bracket along with Halo 3. This site just gets visited by too many Halo fans to be a true discerning of the best game.
While there’s no hiding the fact that there is a bias towards Halo on this site, I think most gamers would agree that Halo: CE is superior to a game like CoD 4. You can’t base your argument off graphics because of the gap of time between the games’ release. Halo: CE revolutionized the FPS like GoldenEye did, and I just don’t see what contributions CoD 4 has made to the genre.

While CoD 4 is fun and a great game, it didn’t revolutionize or introduce anything new to the genre.
But it’s hard to compare 2 games that have virtually nothing in common, other than that they’re both FPS’s.
if it said Halo CE for the PC, I would have voted differently, especially with the Custom Edition content.
How in the hell is Halo 3 winning? CE is the best of the series. Even though the graphics aren’t as nice and theres no xbl, the game play is better than halo 2 and halo 3 combined. On a competitive side of things, CE was the best thing that ever happened. The skill level between Pros and newcomers is so much more than Halo 3 that its not even funny.
Also don’t forget all the LANs that you know you had more fun at than on H3. @ a halo 3 lan people have the opportunity to go on xbl which makes the “lan” aspect of it obsolete.
Just IMO but honestly CE should be the decisive winner.

But then all the halo’s are the same. i olny play halo 3 cause almost everyone on my friends lis has halo 3 but not the others. I generally play Halo costom edition and halo 3 on a regular basis. Halo: Combat Evolved was my first shooter, so I have alot of respect for it, but Halo 3 is current and fun, thanks to X-box Live.Go Covenant Carbine and Energy Sword combo or Plasma Rifle and Assult rifle.Burn the Heratics so them may feel the wrath of the forrunners.
Someone is using a macro with fire fox to Clear private data, refresh and vote for halo 3. It works I personaly voted about twenty or so times for Halo 3.
I’ve got an everlasting love for CE, it being my first shooter and game for the xbox, some great lans with friends came out of sidewinder :P. but unfortunately the live ability and the development of weapons and the such has forced me to side with h3 on this one. i cried a little when trying to decide.

On this one, I had to vote for CE due to the fact I can and have beaten H3 on legendary and still cannot beat CE on legendary. The difficulty level of the original was so much higher on CE it’s not even funny. (Campaign is more important than multiplayer, imo.)
So, when is this officially going to be declared as being over? Obviously H3 took it. Ocarina still wins in my heart though.
