The following images were composed in Illustrator and Photoshop as part of a school project. Created by Flickr user jontunn, I’m particularly drawn to certain elements in the environment and how they interact with and reflect upon the chosen video game characters. I’d be lying if I also didn’t admit to enjoying the sweet irony of an obviously frequently used door granting access to the Princess’ peach. It’s so delicious and moist! Or maybe that was the cake. Regardless, enjoy the pictures.

I Like to Bang Things

You know how sometimes you watch a video of a game you haven’t played in months and you suddenly get the uncontrollable urge to dust off the disc and waste away the day reliving the glory all over again? I’m getting that feeling right now after watching this “musical montage” featuring gameplay from Chromehounds. If you didn’t play this almost three year old squad-based, mech-combat title, you definitely missed out. One of my favorite strategies was building an extremely lightweight wheeled hound armed with two powerful heatseekers and then running circles around an opponent while pummeling them with my powerful missiles. Unfortunately this video lacks my extremely cheap tactics but it’s still good enough to give you a strong craving for some hot mech action. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have things to bang.

I’d Support a Game More Platform

What happens when you take the most recognizable video game characters from all the various platforms and then slap them together monumental granite sculpture style? You get the Mt. Gamemore t-shirt, now available at SPLITREASON for a fairly reasonable $18.95. For those that love to combine their attire with their favorite video games, this particular article of clothing features the mugs of Master Chief, Mario, Snake, and Gordon Freeman etched into the side of a mountain. While it doesn’t exactly respresent the first 150 years of the history of video games, it does a decent job covering the last 25 or so, yes?
