Welcome to Hawty McBloggy’s Video Game March Madness, where the traditional participants of college basketball teams have been replaced with your favorite video games! Mass Effect all the way. I think Sovereign is perhaps the second-best antagonist ever… (GM has to beat him out, not just because GM is Halo but also because GM was so antagonistic… damn GM-moments disrupting gameplay…)
Sovereign is indeed awesome. I think the Gravemind and Sovereign should have a love child. That would be the best spawn of evil ever.
It would always take me nearly ten minutes to get used to the screen after Gravemind finished gabbin’ it up on Cortana.
I’m still annoyed that there aren’t any Call of Duty games…Call of Duty 4 had a great story…it would be winning. :(
I’m on board with you there, Socket. COD4 was a masterpiece and much to my surprise, has overtaken GoldenEye as my all-time favorite FPS game.

COD4 is on the bracket. Its first round game was against Conker’s BFD. Which it should have lost.
I’m no longer shocked by the results of this but apparently we have a very very strong 360 bias.
There is no way that Mass Effect should be beating WoW. But then again there is no way that OoT should be losing to H3 or CT losing to MK2.

And why can’t Mass Effect beat WoW? I personally don’t care for Mass Effect, but if there are more folks here that prefer it over WoW… then it is what it is. The point of having polls is so everyone gets a chance to express their opinion, there are no “correct” winners or losers.

I prefer Mass Effect to WoW. I just don’t think Mass Effect is nearly as good a game (overall) as WoW is. I prefer Fallout 3 to StarCraft but I certainly don’t think Fallout 3 is the better game.
Maybe I’ve been partially looking at the brackets incorrectly. I’ve been viewing it as “vote for the better game”. If that is indeed the question that I should be asking, there are some rare occasions where the game I prefer is actually different than what game I think is better.
For example, when it came down to deciding between Chrono Trigger and Halo CE I eventually went with the game that I thought was better (Halo CE) over the game that I prefer (Chrono Trigger). I obviously prefer to play Halo 3 more than OoT but I still think that OoT is light years better than Halo 3.
As for Mass Effect against WoW. If it weren’t for WoW, BioWare wouldn’t even be thinking about doing SW: The Old Republic. Again, while I might prefer to play Mass Effect over it, there is no doubt in my mind that WoW is the better game.

(IMO) mass effect clearly beats wow by having an incredible storyline and by finally doing something that ive personally been looking for in my games for a while. The character you roleplay as actually has a voice.
Furthermore Mass Effect offer a unique style of gameplay not done often (or at all) where-as WoW is basically everquest. WoW may offer you hours of entertainment a day/night but in the end your still paying to play it and where is the satisfaction in getting 50 when you could have saved the galaxy in the time it took you to do it
Lastly, the ammount of skills in WoW and the interface arent user friendly (IMO) but Mass Effect provides a smooth interface that flows with the game. WoW is great, dont get me wrong but its hard to see the RPG in it, when all you do is prepare for a dugeon raid then next thing you know

sonic vs tony hawk? id pay to see that fight. but yeah, the childhood of sonic being awesome in games instead of a washed up shadow of himself has caused me to vote for sonic 2.

AAAAAARGH! I hated having to choose between Guitar Hero II and Half-life!
I find the voting particularly difficult when the games are just so different, much like those two. Sometimes the genres are similar, or the generations aren’t as far apart, but when they have little in common is when I struggle more with the decisions.
