I Like to Bang Things

You know how sometimes you watch a video of a game you haven’t played in months and you suddenly get the uncontrollable urge to dust off the disc and waste away the day reliving the glory all over again? I’m getting that feeling right now after watching this “musical montage” featuring gameplay from Chromehounds. If you didn’t play this almost three year old squad-based, mech-combat title, you definitely missed out. One of my favorite strategies was building an extremely lightweight wheeled hound armed with two powerful heatseekers and then running circles around an opponent while pummeling them with my powerful missiles. Unfortunately this video lacks my extremely cheap tactics but it’s still good enough to give you a strong craving for some hot mech action. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have things to bang.

I loved that game but I could never get the hang of the long range mech. it seemed like there was no way to really aim it. just kinda guess at an angle and fire.
i was thinking of getting this game, but VOOT is coming to the us, so i decided to wait.
I remember this well… I must get a transfer cable and get all my Hounds back and do some housekeeping in the squad, maybe try building a cookie-cutter shielded Hound that I despised for so very long, and probably still do. Or I could shout NO U and fire all weapons into the target’s chassis while they try to shoot my cockpit, I liked doing that with my treaded cannon Defender.
As for your tactics ma’am, they are acceptable by my standards; you didn’t use the max load glitch for one thing.
My little mech worked well with my squad. The majority of the people I played with enjoyed long range snipers so being able to rush in and finish hounds off and do various scouting really worked well. They didn’t like it so much when we battled each other though, LOL …
I really enjoyed the building aspect too. I don’t know how many hours I wasted away in the garage, just tinkering away.
That is something a pure Sniper builds simply cannot handle, and they are raging about it (akin to Halo 3 BR purists ragequitting/ spamming abusive remarks when they cannot defeat the AR at short range). You are just exploiting their weakness, and I sometimes do the same, albeit with over 9000 grenade launchers and a pinch more Sparta. They can do nothing if I’ve ripped all of their guns off.
lol…I just traded it in since my squad stopped playing…I had a hound that shot 24 missles at once and went 264mph … hehe
Oh man this brings back memories, I used to use the same mech I loved the long ranged 1V1s and the epic squad battles.
I loved the strategy the game entailed. Oh the nostalgia.
now i wish i didn’t trade in my Chromehounds to get Guitar Hero World Tour… =’( i miss that game… i just might have to re-buy it now… lol
Now i wish is still had Mech Warrior 4 and MW4 Black Knight. -.-
Those were the good days.
That’s the reason I play games at all. MW2: 31st Century Combat was the first game I ever played. And a game called Assault Rigs- it was this tank game. I don’t know if anyone else played it, because it came bundled with MW2 and our computer. It was that “ATI Rage” deal, I guess. I had to re-buy MW2 just so I could play it on my PC. But Chromehounds…I was underwhelmed. Maybe I’ll try it again mow.
To my apparent misfortune, I’ve never played Chromehounds; I can’t afford many new games.
I did like the song here, though. Nice and calm, but with a story to tell.

I’ve never heard of this game… would it be worth a purchase? In my younger days I loved mech-based games.
I’m sure you could get it for pretty cheap these days. The thing is that the best part is the multiplayer and I’m assuming not many people are playing it these days so building a squad would be difficult. I am one of the rare people that played the heck out of the single player campaign so I would think it’s definitely worth at least a rental.
Man, I have had Chromehounds for sooo Long.
I was helping a Machinima for it but, the makers were having Life Troubles, ducation & Work, so it never got to a 3rd Episode.
Still I loved wasting time in the Garage and playing with your mates to wipe out the AIs (we always perfered to relax-play) Worth a pick up if you can find people to play with in a Squad.
I have Armored Core: for Answer, and you have the same Decals to use so its from the same people for sure, I would consider it a Cousin of Chrome.
I absolutely loved Chromehounds. When you had a decent squad at your back it entailed more teamwork and strategy than just about any other game. The only game that has approached it since in necessitating teamwork is Left 4 Dead.
I also played a really light, fast, scout hound.
I think the one of three times I played online was against you, BS Angel… there was this wheeled hound that just kept circling me and blowing the heck out of me… I was annoyed, to say the least… :P
That must have been my teammate. What a jerk! :cough:
