Welcome to Hawty McBloggy’s Video Game March Madness, where the traditional participants of college basketball teams have been replaced with your favorite video games! Voting between Oregon Trail and Super Mario Bros almost broke my heart.

another fairly easy day of voting choices, sure i loved oregon trail, but it holds nothing to super mario bros
There are very few games that I would vote over Super Mario Bros ….
Halo…100%….lol
Madden 94 stood no chance… nor did Shenmue
doesn’t anyone know about shenmue? well, i guess halo ce’s just that good…
The only one that gave me any pause was CoD4 vs Conker.

If Chrono Trigger doesn’t beat MK2 I will lose all faith in humanity.
I have SOTN over Gears of War as well. Sorry Cliffy B., if it would have been UT99 instead of GOW I might have actually gave a damn.
And Shenmue and Shenmue 2 are good games. They just aren’t anywhere near as good as HCE in it’s prime.

It didn’t get tough for me until I had to decide between Chrono Trigger and Halo CE later on in this bracket. I had CT beating SMB in a close close battle and then finally falling to HCE. Might not even get to see that lineup :**(

This is how I knew I was going to be a video game nerd when I grew up. I named my kids stupid shit in Oregon Trail like “Exploding ass” so I could get funny messages like, “Exploding ass has died of dysentery”.
God I loved that game.

I played Oregon Trail recently and named all my people after Halo characters. :)
Maybe they need to make a Halo version of Oregon Trail:

Chrono Trigger shouldn’t be losing. But then again, neither should Metroid, Quake, or SOTN.
How can people be voting Metal Gear Solid over Quake?!?!
Are John Carmack and American McGee going to have to kick your ass?
I mean Quake built internet-based FPS in ’96. Pretty much the whole reason people like Halo is because of fundamentals built in Quake.

People like me vote MGS over quake.
Quake was ok but I never really cared too much about it, whereas I loved the MGS series. The first of which was a great blend of stealth, action and in depth story telling.
You may not like it but this isn’t just your opinion now is it?
If that doesn’t work for you think about it like this, it’s just a bit of fun and doesn’t mean the slightest thing in the real world.
We can argue subjective opinions all we wanted but Quake’s open source mods and Carmack’s TCP architecture in Quake revolutionized the market and pretty much every single PC/Console FPS game that came after it.
There is no way (IMO) that the “grand-daddy” of every online FPS should even be close to losing to Metal Gear Solid. I didn’t like the series until MGS3: Snake Eater, which thankfully was the first game in the series chronologically. So it actually partially made sense after playing the first 2.
Maybe some of my old PC-bias is coming out, I just don’t see a console game as being quite as influential as compared to Quake and really UT99.

Man. It’s close between Rock Band 2 and Super Metroid. haha. But for the three of you who voted AGAINST Halo: CE, I just don’t understand :(
Chrono Trigger and Conker should win…Chrono was one of the best RPGs on the SNES next to Secret of Mana and Super MArio RPG. Hell i’m still waiting for it to be released onto the Virtual Console, that’s a no-brainer for purchase.
As for Conker who doesn’t love a swearing squrrel and his escapade against the evil Teddiz? Recently had the chance to do some multiplayer with some friends and it was a blast! Conker BFD FTMFW!!
Come on people, have you never played a castlevania game? If you have recently and enjoyed it, it is because of SotN! It was the first to introduce the open-ended rpg-element castlevania we know and love! So sadface…

Just voted for Super Metroid. I love Rockband 2 but I have to go with a classic.
Mortal Kombat always angered me with the whole ‘k’ thing. Do they think they’re Kool? I’m gonna Kome to their Kastle and Kick them in the Krotch, or maybe Kill them by Kramming Krab Klaws in their Kornea… while listening to Korn. *giggles*
