Welcome to Hawty McBloggy’s Video Game March Madness, where the traditional participants of college basketball teams have been replaced with your favorite video games! Yes!! I’ve been waiting for you to put up today’s match-ups Angel!!
I’m excited to see what’s going to happen. Tough calls for today: The Contra and Super Mario Kart game is going to be SWWWWEEETTT! And the Super Mario Galaxy versus Mass Effect is going to be a tough one. Just thinking about Super Mario Galaxy makes my inner-child do a barrel roll!! But some of the dialogue with Wrex in Mass Effect was priceless. Plus, you got alien-human sex scandals with Mass Effect. Shock value is definitely going to help out their case.
Can anyone stop the juggernaut that is known only by WoW? I mean, they announced a couple days ago that they are getting the new ‘Game Fuel’ from Mountain Dew. As much as I like dicking around with Little Big Planet, the sock-man got steamrolled by 4 Elves with +8 AGL and a cloak of disintegration. Didn’t even see it coming.
I so could do play by commentary for these games. I’m that big of a nerd.

I really do a play by play commentary for each match-up in my head. Adds to the fun I think. I was going over this whole March to the Final Four of video games with my fiancee and she was mortified that not only had I played every single one of the 64 games offered in the tournament but I played all 64 and I had something to say about all of them.
She says I cheated by changing Bioshock to System Shock 2 on my bracket though.

agreed, my decision was hard, o sam fisher why must you be so stealthy and sonic why must you blue hedgehogness be the most incredeawsome thing since the birth of teh internetz.
btw angel, you rock. no one i know remembers TIE fighter. I do… and you do. and that makes it all ok. (pulling for tiefighter!)
I find myself thinking something similiar in pretty much every game, lol …
Tie Fighter and X-wing were awesome!! We wore out at least two of my Dad’s fancy flight sim joysticks playing those games!
todays picks were pretty easy, no hart breaking match ups between so many games i love.
I found them to be easier decisions today as well. The last round made my hurt hurt in some instances..
oopz. I meant the last round made my HEAD hurt…. ;)

WOW!! I cannot believe that Super Mario Galaxy is going to get upset by Mass Effect. Really? Am I the only one that thought that Super Mario Galaxy was a friggin’ great game to play on the Wii? I thought that it took what was good in Super Mario Sunshine and cranked it up to 11!
That might be the first one I get wrong on my bracket :**( I guess it had to happen eventually. I guess it doesn’t matter. I can’t see either game beating WoW.

Mario Kart is really beating Contra? Just wow on my part, I thought that was one of my easier decisions and the side I picked is losing. I really don’t believe this. Contra is one of my favorite “old” games. I’m in absolute shock here.
Here’s how I looked at it. Yes. Contra is amazing. Yes. It spawned one of the biggest and most well-known bits of Gamer trivia ever. And it is immortally one of those classic games that everyone should play.
However, looking at Super Mario Kart on the SNES is just too big of a “franchise” starter and the first time we got a look at a game that created the ‘go-kart’ racing genre. There is a good reason why Ghost Valley 2 from Super Mario Kart was remade in Halo 3 over at Halotracks. Because it’s iconic. Even though there were only 4 MP versus maps, every time you played them it was something different. Mario Kart is a driving game for gamers who don’t like driving games. Because driving isn’t what makes Super Mario Kart good. It’s shooting the hell out of your friends with Red Shells. It’s using a mushroom at the right second so you slam into your buddy and send them flying off the level. It’s driving nervously as you can here the guy 6inches behind you who has a Star/Invincibility bearing down on you.
The Mario Kart franchise is huge to this day. I play Mario Kart Wii with my soon to be father-in-law and he’s better at the game than I am! He’s 56 years old and can whip my ass in Mario Kart. The only time I have half a chance is when I make him use the Mario Kart Wheel controller.
It’s a tough choice between the two, but in the end I gave my vote to Super Mario Kart.

what DOES happen in the event of a Tie Hawty? cause Sonic and Splinter Cell are in a dead even match-up.
There are a few close ones, definitely. Voting is open for a handful of days since we are alternating brackets so I honestly don’t see any of them finishing dead even.

Do they have the sword of a thousand truths? Because I’m pretty sure that’s the only thing that can slow WoW down.
