Bungie’s New Box: Even Bigger Than We Thought!
February 9, 2009 23 Comments
And suddenly Sandbox gets a lot more exciting. As just revealed in IGN’s exclusive Halo 3 Sandbox Interview, Part 2, a secret feature that was hinted at in Bungie’s Edge Awards acceptance video just became real. Dubbed the “Sky Bubble”, it’s a bubble. In the sky. Besides the stating of the obvious, which I already successfully accomplished, the sky bubble is a completely separate space (which is accessible by morphing into a Monitor and flying to a nearby teleporter) that you can build on, play on, and even connect to the other area. You can also fall into an abyss and die, which I anticipate I will do a multitude of times. The space, located high above Sandbox, features the recognizable grid that objects can be placed on. In the interview Dan Miller states, “With the main and sky bubble spaces, I’m pretty confident this is the biggest map of pure playspace we’ve ever made.” I anticipate massive Forge penises of dimensions that cannot yet be fathomed. Consider me excited! Hit the article for the official information and some new awe-inspiring screenshots.

Well…… sandbox just got a lot more interesting
i am seeing alot of items in some of those screenshots, which is a good sign! =D
Operation Boarding Action (greatest NSFW map name evar!) is back on track!!
~B.B.
I just hope their are enough Forge objects to satisfy peoples’ imaginations.
4 words: BEST FORGE RAMP EVAR!!!!!! :D
@ dethpwn
you gotta love those forge ramps…….
Forgehub is gonna go balls to the wall with this.
This is EXACTLY what was needed in a new map. I love bungie’s maps and all, but forge was in desperate need of a new playpen.
If there’s one thing angel knows, it’s boxes.
W007!!11!one!1
first killballs and now this.
whats next bungie?
Wow, sandbox just became that much more anticipated. Did it say if you can go in between the 2 during play?
I hope so. Even if we can’t though, this is still fantastic. The grid system seems like it makes it much easier to place items – no more painstaking minutes aligning those boxes and walls so you get a perfectly straight line!
I guess since this is apparently one of Bungie’s last content releases, they wanted to go out, in the dying words of Sergeant Johnson, “with a bang.”
Content for Halo 3, that is. Just wanted to clarify.

As a pro forger, I’m going to have SO much fun on this map. Foundry sucked. Everything had to be merged because the little slants at the bottom of the walls, and the crane was a really stupid idea as well. Now we forgers have full freedom! We will rule the world!
Actually Faren22, there will be three more maps coming out with Halo 3: ODST… Heritic (an exact Midship remake), longshore, and citadel (resembles an area from the H3 campaign).
@Naepa34: Yes, but only with teleporters. Touching the “floor” in the sky will result in death.
But doesn’t Forge have a limit on what you can put in your map?
With such a open space and now two levels to build on you won’t be able to get alot of objects to fill that space due to the limit.
Correction:
*limit on how much objects you can put in your map?
Me wanta NOW!
Something I just realized…
Boarding Action Remake FTW!
I’m gonna remake…….. GAURDIAN!!
1. Cut a hole in the box…
