Warning: Construction May Take You Two Whole Seconds
February 7, 2009 43 Comments

The initial announcement of Mega Bloks releasing a Halo Wars-themed line of construction sets this summer brought a general sense of disappointment as that brand is synonymous with substandard quality. The disaster we pictured in our heads is now officially confirmed as they recently released the first look at the Halo Wars MEGA Bloks. If the thought of this toy line made you feel dead inside before, the plethora of pictures found after the jump will be the final nail in your coffin. By the way, if you thought the entire Scorpion consisted of only three pieces, I’m pretty sure it actually has four. See? It can always be worse.

I HATE MEGA BLOCKS THEYVE FUCKED UP MY DREAMS
/sigh
I hope that this takes the path that the batman lego took, where mega bloks bought the licence and then when batman proved it wasn’t going to flop after all this time, Lego bought out the rights.
I still hope for a Lego Version….
OMG THEY”RE SO FRIKKIN AWESOME!
MOMMY I WANT SOME MEGABLOKS THAT ARE FOR YOUNG KIDS WITH VERY CHEAP PARENTS THAT ARE BASED ON A GAME THAT’S NOT FOR MY AGE.
-twitches excessively-
So many Halo themed products have been made: Pins, stickers, toys, costumes, and even soft drinks. Now I’m afraid manufacturers will be weary of creating such products once these crap-tacular blocks bomb on release. These may bring the death of Halo 3 merchandise as we know it.
I think they’re cool, personally. They would be better if they were made by lego though.
These are pieces of shit. I collected Legos until I was like, 11… I got all the airplane sets and the Star Wars sets…I would have bought all the Halo sets if Lego had made them (at a reasonable price).
But these? Shit, utter shit.
Why the hecki s master chief shiny. Why is the top of the banshee pink? Grunt’s head is too small. Why is the beam rifle clear blue, no, that’s apparently not a sword. The tank’s turret is way too high up.
I think everybody is going to be better off buying mcfarlan’es little two inch high dudes.
DON’T BUY MEGABLOKS!
And yeah, I think they got the color of the energy sword mixed up with the color for the beam rifle. That’s messed up.
Oh, dear god.
the hornet and sparrowhawk look cool
i STILL collect legos….im 21 years old. and i F@#*$%@ hate mega blocks…sorry i feel very passionate about this subject. i think if lego would have picked up this license that it would have been amazing…look at what they did for starwars, indiana jones, batman. all amazing….but damn, leave it to mega blocks to kill what would have been a good idea.
HOW THE HELL HAS MEGA BLOKS SURVIVED IN THIS ECONOMY?!?! HOW?!?!?!
@DethPwn
Because they’re probably cheaper than legos (I don’t actually know, just guessing), and little kids have no sense of good taste. They eat crayons, for god’s sake. :P
Is it just me or does the Scorpion have a TV on the side of its giraffe neck?
Don’t worry too much. This is Halo Wars, and apperantly everyone is already expecting it to bomb, so maybe afterward when the next line in the Halo story comes out for the next generation Xbox, we’ll see LEGO bricks instead…. consisting of a 2 million piece Halo ring set…. hells yeah.
I don’t know what parent in their right mind buys megablocks for their younger kids. The DUPLO line, being Lego after all, is a far superior product. Then when they’re above the age of wanting to swallow small stuff, give them standard Legos.
Lego needs to buy Megablocks so the company can die.
Whoops, I forgot something up their: If they bought Megablocks, they’d also probably acquire all licenses Megablocks has ;).
I love these.
Not lying.
Seriously.
*shun me now*
“and i F@#*$%@ hate mega blocks…sorry i feel very passionate about this subject.” Welcome to the club. I got some crappy old “dragster” kit ages ago. When I was buildign it, I guess many of the pieces were warped just a teeny tiny bit, so in the end it was relaly hard to fit the next pieces on, becasue the whole dragster was kinda warped…BOOOO! DON’T BUY MEGABLOKS!
Why is the elite’s beam rifle that lightish-blue? It’s like they tried making the energy sword and the guy modeling made a beam rifle instead.
Lego would have done it 10x better
Fuuuuuuuuuuck. I know officially hate megabloks. DAMNIT Bungie, why didnt you keep the rights to Halo!!!
Arthur would be very disappointed.
At least with the simple assembly, you wouldn’t have to worry about building it “wrong,” bs. ;)
These are a disgrace to Halo. Plus, the only young kids play with these types of toys, and they shouldn’t be playing Halo that young.
At first, I was like “hmm, I might actually get this.” But then I took a closer look and was like, “yuck.”
the only possible way to redeem this entire colection is if there was a voice box implanted in the elites then when activated would say: “wort wort wort”
and phuck mega shits… thats what i call them… but some of the peices are cool and work with legos… the shotgun and smg look like they’d fit some lego hands
Honestly, the hornet and sparrowhawk sort of approach a level of quality that is acceptable, but the others, scorpion tank especially, are horrible. HORRIBLE. Take a look at this guys website.

This is the best fan made lego halo out there, IMO. Now think what the lego company could do with a halo licence. I can only hope this deal ends up like the dead fish the products already resemble.
These are the people that make halo look bad!
What everyone needs to remember is that these are Halo Wars, not Halo. There’s a difference. Like that’s not MC up there but simply another Spartan. Maybe we still may see Halo LEGOs, hopefully… But these are a total disgrace and I am not surprised in the the least… =(
Well, the only thing up there that actually looks somewhat decent I think is the Hornet. Other than that- :P
I think the following quote can best describe our current prediciment.
“I mean, once you accept Lego Star Wars, where does it end? Playmobil Battlestar Galactica? Duplo Firefly? Meccano Dune? …Stickle Bricks Babylon 5?”
Oh, I forgot to completely whore myself out in my last comment.
“Fuzzy Felt Deep Space Nine.”
at first I was like *scoff raise eyebrows* at the idea but…
on second thought…I’m not complaining
*makes war sounds whilst playing with toys while friends look at me weird*
The warthog and the human ariel vehicle in the last picture look pretty good, but the covenant vehicles (banshee and ghosts) are surprisingly bad. Not that I thought they’d be good, but like, OMG I can’t believe they’re THAT bad!
I can’t believe LEGO didn’t jump on this back at H:CE… Probably because HALO is an “M” game. But, If they were smart, the should have signed a deal at the first whiff of a “T” HALO game. I know I would have bought every set.
Megablocks suck :( Part of my dreams just died. Lego Gods, if you can hear me, GET THE F*CKING HALO LICENSE AWAY FROM MEGABLOCKS!!!1!!~!!!
…what the FUCK are MEGA-blocks?
I’ve played with LEGO’s but these just seem like a cheap rip-off or something.
WHY would the halo-brand marketing-department ever never even think of something like this?
Wow…these look like some boot leg shit you’d find in TJ…
Did my comment get deleted?
Mega Bloks-The bane of LEGO fans with farsighted grandmas everywhere.
I was opptimistic but now i’m gonna cry. Bungie should have higher standards than that. Eugh! I’d never pay for this! Maybe steal them for the guns. Scratch that. I thought that was the energy sword! Why the fuck is the beam rifle made of plasma?! The smg is the only decent thing in there. The grunt is copper. Bullshit! We should steal these off the shelf and burn them. Just to take them out of circulation. I wouldn’t wish this kind of punishment on any franchise.
LEGO should’ve gotten to this first. Because they’re awesome. But, truth be told, they haven’t really gone outside the realm of their Block men…
this idea would be so much better in the hands of LEGO
i had been thinking about Halo themed LEGOs ever since Halo CE
but no stupidfucking Mega Blocks had to get the license
I’m not surprised Lego passed. I wanted a “Halo Lego” game for so long, but let’s be real. It’s a “Mature” rated game and Lego isn’t going to cross-market that for kids. “Would it be bad for Lego? Yes.” Discussion over. The fact that Mega Blox got it just shows that Mega Blox is in a position where there’s really nowhere to go but up.
I can’t judge the complexity of the toys because I can’t tell from the pics. When I was a kid, I made all kinds of Star Wars stuff out of Legos before they ever made a real SW set. If I was a kid now, chances are I’d be doing the same thing with Halo stuff.
Face it. Halo is a “T” rated property, with the bare minimum needed to tip it into the realm of “M”. With no effort at all, it could have been a “T” game. Who seriously believes that the “M” rating HELPED Halo sales? Come on… There are kids under 18 in church youth groups all over the US playing Halo 3 on Friday nights.
I saw in the forums here, someone who was 16, and what games was he playing? Oh, Halo 3, Call of Duty WaW, Left 4 Dead…
actually on third thought…ew
I miss the good old times when Lego was still any good (and what I mean were the original Lego magazines I subscribed to)
