One Step Closer to a Virtual Reality Halo Helmet
January 31, 2009 14 Comments
The last time we heard about the Halo-themed virtual reality gaming helmet (created by the innovative bunch over at Headplay), details about both the construction and the specifics were scarce. And by scarce I mean totally and completely nonexistent. That has changed though with the recent release of a still too short video outlining the basics of the development process. An optics package and mini-speakers have already been hard-mounted to the inside of the helmet, and next up for installation is an accelerometer for head tracking. Push play, check out the progress, and continue to dream. Perhaps one day it will be your reality.

Wow, First Post…Lucky.
I cant wait to see how thats going t turn out in the end, I wonder what the Price Tag will be.
Well Im getting my EMA, it will be at about £400 when its “backtracked”, so perhaps it wont be a Cars worth (lol) and I could Buy it.
Wow!!!! I knew that they were going to make something like this!!!!!! I knew it!!!
Man, so cool… *daydreams*
One can dream…
this will be so cool once its done. however, i lack any ability to make one myself.
Ugh, 720p?!
is there really any need for an accelerometer?
How cool would the accelorometer be! You look up to look up in the game, SICK!
I officially want one… I hope the accelerometer is either not implemented or atleast will have an on off switch… cause I don’t want to have to look around to turn in game… and I also don’t want my normal head movements (I do look around sometimes… or pop my neck) to affect gameplay. And hopefulyl if they do start mass producing them they won’t cost an arm and a leg.
Wow….Just wow
double you tee eff
Why don’t they just use the TV that’s behind them?
i can haz awesome helmet? srsly. i must haz… NOW! well i can wait until they put in the accelerometer…
@ XMi xMasterX
um… cause it’s cooler to use a helmet. It’s like you’re right there actually in the action… wearing a spartan helmet. While yes they could use the tv… it’d be less cool.
Do. Want.
