Cause We All Just Wanna be Big Rockstars

After the recent release of the Rock Band 2 game software, the official Rock Band website recently found itself on the receiving end of some rather fancy schmancy renovations. Some of the more exciting new features include a complete catalog of every RB track (including not only background information on the song but also difficulty rankings for each instrument), a photocreator (where you can take your Rock Band characters, pose them in front of various backgrounds, then snap a pic), and some super awesome new merchandise options. Along with being able to order custom buttons, stickers, posters and shirts (according to the demo video, it looks like the shirts will run you approximately $30), you will also be able to order customized 6” tall 3D statues of your Rock Band 2 characters. After linking your Xbox Live account to their website, your characters automatically upload there. Then you choose an instrument and a pose, fork over $70, and shortly thereafter you will have a tangible version of your rock star self arrive at your doorstep. While $70 seems pretty reasonable for a custom figure, I don’t see myself spending my money on that when I could buy a new game instead. A poster though? I’m pretty sure that’s a must have for any rock star.

That is pretty expensive! How awesome is the Rock Band create-a-character? I haven’t played the game yet.

I could never buy one of these though because my avatars are always changing. I can never stick with one single look :)

The RB2 charactor creator is same as RB1 with a few more clothes options.

They have a lot of choices for everything, but half of the clothes will only look good with the entire set, so they dont mix and match well. The other half is good (outside of the 400 basic t-shirts). The characters themselves have a ton of hair styles etc, plus you can make your own tattoo’s. Their is not a whole lot of range for body type, but again, its descent.

this is cool, but the figure would be useless to me, I change my character every time I play…

  6. Rock Band is a big hit in our neighborhood. My kids jam on that at a friends house, but in our home, we got Guitar Hero 3. I came home one day after work and heard Slayer’s “Raining Blood” and found my kids thrashing in the living room.
