Protect the Package

limited edition dead space suit

Dead Space is officially 13 days away. If you haven’t yet reserved your copy of this delightfully gory sci-fi survival horror game, signing up at No Known Survivors (an interactive website that delves into the game’s backstory) will automatically get you $5 off at the EA Store. You can put that discount towards Dead Space or any of their other titles as well. Another fun little perk they are offering is if you purchase the game within the first two weeks of its release, you will have the opportunity to download an Xbox-themed Elite Suit or a PlayStation-themed Obsidian Suit for your in game character, both of which boast increased toughness and inventory slots. While I am typically against exclusive downloads that give players an innate advantage in the multiplayer arena, Dead Space is a single player experience so the only opponent it will be beneficial against is the Necromorphs. And believe me, you’ll need it as those are some bad ass bloodthirsty mutated alien freaks. While I appreciate the limited edition garb, where the hell is my exclusive codpiece? Quite honestly, I’m concerned over Isaac Clarke’s lack of protection in his nether regions. He may need some tender loving care by the time the game is over and lucky for him, I just may know somebody that’s up for the job. I got your back Isaac. And your front too.

I hope that the gameplay is as good as it should be scary. I’m not easily scared other than… by girls… and games like Resident Evil and Silent Hill were boring because they relied too much on the scary part. Now Bioshock though was wonderful because it didn’t rely too much on it.

Is that suit only available by download, or is it something that can be unlocked by normal progression through the game?

A beginning perk is nice, but I disagree with making it special to only those who jump through the hoops.

Good marketing scheme for sure though.

Imagine if Bungie had done that with an armor permutation…

Those suits look cool, but I prefer the original.

Like recon? But then I wouldn’t get the sick pleasure of listening to the shrieks of random squeakers screaming “OMG RECON! BUNGIE! BUNGIE! DO YOU WORK FOR BUNGIE?!” at the tops of their lungs, then immediately shooting off a witty one-liner and muting them all. :P

Threatening squeakers with the all seeing ban hammer is always fun :)

They believe I can 99% of the time I loom it over their gullible little heads and I don’t even have recon

  8. Let’s just hope that suit doesn’t red-ring. That would suck something fierce. (insert inappropriate joke here)

Pre-ordered finally! I am looking forward to this game, too bad about the lack of multi-player though…I can see why its not Team vs Team, but co-op campaign could have been fun!
