Breaking a 67 day streak of silence, The Superintendent finally made a reappearance yesterday in the form of a top story at Bungie.net. The mysterious transcript, posted at 7:07 PM PDT, appeared as follows:

I really have no idea what is going on over there at bungie studios……
but we’ll know soon enough.
Maybe it’s a decoy? Probably not, but you never know with those guys.

I think there planing on announcing a new game, and I cant wait for whatever may be.
Well obviously the game that this is alluding to is going to be set in the Halo universe, there was never any doubt about that. From the SOURCE and RECIPIENT lines, which angel seems to have omitted, we can tell that the Superintendent is an AI (codename or real name) that manages urban infrastructure in a city on an unknown planet, and the “Tokyo Rules” is a Prowler class Corvette crewed by ONI officers. From the transcript there seems to have been some incident involving data corruption, which could mean corruption of the SI, which could have led to a break down of the city’s infrastructure systems (METROPOLITAN EMERGENCY). Other possibilities are that it is going rampant or that it is being corrupted by alien forces.
this stuff is all crazy to me…i hope its a new game announcement tho!

I’ve been saying what Das Kalk said.
I think this is a preceeding to the a new game announcement, and I think it’s going to be made at the TGS this year. I had heard rumors before, but I felt this was just more wood to the fire.
Technically, M$ hasn’t really made any big announcements at TGS… ever. So, if they announced a new game that was quite popular, despite it not being popular in Japan, it would be a first for M$. Hell, they might even steal some of Sony’s thunder there, but I doubt that.
This might have a tie-in with the new book and Grey Team.
Just a thought.
