I Bet Their Mess Kits’ve Got Three Knives

custom brute spiker

I find porcupines to be absolutely adorable creatures. That is probably one of the reasons why I enjoy using the Brute Spiker against my opponents when playing Halo 3. There is nothing quite like filling up someone’s armor with large superheated metal spikes and then ogling their porcupine-like appearance as you gleefully run over their dead body. Perhaps it’s just me but I also find it fun shoving the tungsten carbide blade deep into an enemy’s unsuspecting back. If you share my passion for this particular Covenant projectile weapon, you will be amazed by this Brute Spiker replica handmade by the very talented smick6 of 405th Mjolnir Armor.

This is smick6’s second time making a Brute Spiker, the first attempt occurring before Halo 3 was released. Once the game was out and he had in game pictures to use as a reference, he decided to try his hand at a more detailed version. And by more detailed I mean the freakin’ thing not only lights up but it also has a switch that allows the trigger to cycle the lights on and off with each pull. That definitely beats my idea of just shoving a flashlight inside. Made out of medium density fiberboard, styrene plastic pieces, metal, and a handful of other materials, it was molded and casted with liquid plastic after construction was complete. The blades are made out of aluminum that is ground somewhat sharp, and the grip and guard are wrapped in leather. The entire thing is painted, weathered, and basically just full of awesome sauce. I know awesome sauce is not a tangible item but let’s face it, that is what it is full of. Well, either that or pure win. There are a buttload of pictures of the entire process behind making this Brute Spiker replica just waiting for you after the jump. So if you would like to see the individual steps, or if you just like things that come in buttloads, continue on. Otherwise just turn around so I can try a melee with this thing.

While I don’t think he’ll give it to you, he did tell me it will be available on eBay soon. I’ll be sure to post a link when the auction goes live!

Oh man…I can only imagine what that will fetch. It would be great for a charity auction if he were so inclined. Well, let us know…Id be willing to sacrifice some purchases to have that beauty.
