A very special set of downloadable Rock Band tracks will be available starting today on the Xbox Live Marketplace (they will also be coming to the PlayStation Store on Thursday). Called the “PAX 2008 Collection”, this themed pack features a trio of songs by artists whom all performed at the Penny Arcade Expo over the long holiday weekend. While it is awesome that people who didn’t have the opportunity to attend the gaming convention can now feel a little more a part of the PAX experience, the best thing is that the proceeds from the sales that occur between launch and Holiday 2008 will all be donated to Child’s Play, a charitable organization that focuses on improving the lives of children in hospitals. So go get your groove on to “Skullcrusher Mountain” by Jonathan Coulton, “Livin’ on the Corner of Dude and Catastrophe” by MC Frontalot, and “Shhh….” by Darkest of the Hillside Thickets for a mere 240 Microsoft Points ($2.99 USD), all while improving the life of a child. Fuck yeah! I mean hell yeah. I mean the hot place where bad people go yeah. Oh whatever, just do it for the kids.

Stupid Rock Band, 200 dollars…and paying for songs. At least the songs are for Childs Play.

Thats really cool. Do you know if these will still be up come October. I won’t have RB2 until then.

I would imagine it will be a permanent offering but the donation to Child’s Play only applies to purchases between today and Holiday 2008 (whatever that means, right?!). That is my best guess. :)

that’s a great idea! Helping out the little kids! :D
Any chance we’ll get a Halo 3 Assembly PAX demo that profits Child’s play?
