What If, Halo Style: Round 3

So, guess what? Today is Friday. That’s right, I am totally on the ball this week. Ok, totally on the ball may be a bit of an exaggeration but at least I know what day it is. That is a vast improvement over last week where I didn’t even realize it was Friday until Saturday morning. So what is Friday’s significance exactly? It simply means it’s time for a fun distracting activity that will hopefully kill some time while we anxiously await the beginning of our much anticipated weekend. Let the goofing off formally begin!

blood gulch

Last week for What If, Halo Style I asked, “What if you could bring any map from the first two games of the trilogy to Halo 3. Which one would you choose?” and numerous Halo fanatics were more than happy to contribute their two cents. SuicidalKanoka wondered how I would select the answers to highlight since it was a poll with limited choices rather than a question that allowed for creativity. To answer that, I decided to make a handy dandy (somewhat) easy-to-read graph displaying all your votes. After you are done ogling all the glorious green bars I poured copious amounts of blood, sweat, and tears into, you won’t ever be able to say I don’t love you again.

halo remake bar graph

Blood Gulch garnered an uncontested victory over my personal choice of Terminal. Now I’m feeling nostalgic and have the sudden urge to watch the earlier seasons of The Blood Gulch Chronicles but before I grab my tissues and start meandering down memory lane, I’ll leave you with a new question to get those rusty old wheels turning: What if you could design your own Halo 3 armor permutation. What would it be? Feel free to let your creative juices flow in the form of text or an image if you feel so inspired!

It would be the super sexy SPI armor. Also, like when you wear the security helmet, your other body parts change (Shut up.). Like when you wear the shoulders, you get those cool looking SPI armor gauntlets and arm armor. When you wear the chest, you get the legs of the SPI armor. The helmet is just there to look awesome with some scratches that spell out LT.K.A

First I thought of suggesting the Elite Councilor’s helmet or the Honour Guard armour, both from Halo 2. But then I thought of something much better – the legendary Honor Guard Councilor that you sometimes find in the level Gravemind. What could be better than combining the two greatest Elite armours in the game? It’s 50% Honor Guard and 50% Councilor. That makes 100% awesome!

Wouldn’t make you move any faster because that would be unfair, but it’d still be cool to look at. Either that, or a batman piece to go on the forearms…you know, those 3 little black blades? that’d be so tight.

With all the Soul Calibur 4 playing I’ve been doing, I’d love to see some SC4-styled armor perms. After all, if I can make Medieval Master Chief in SC4, why not have some of those cool armor pieces make it into Halo 3? The Paladin Chest Plate would be freakin’ awesome looking in Halo 3, even moreso if you could get the Warthog pauldrons as well.

Oh! Um, back to the question. There should probably be a design your own helmet dealy on the computer. Submit it to Halo 3, and your 360 will download the permutation and you’ll have something much better than Recon–an armor permutation that no one IN THE WORLD can have except you–your own.

  25. A sniper variant. Something that doesn’t stand out like the other perms. Like, if your primary color matches the color of the environment you’re on, you shouldn’t be able to be seen as easily as if you were wearing standard MK VI gear. The gold visor needs to barely be visible. The chest piece needs to allow the user to have the stock of the sniper rifle held comfortably. The shoulders would allow easy mobility. Curved, not too big.

Ok not sure who I posted a lil bit of this earlier, but meh

Ok so the Elites DEFINATELY need more amour, so I reckon bringing in the Heretic and Honour guard variants would be a good move (if you could) I mean c’mon- the designs existed and Bungie gave us such classic as assault armour chestpiece- ie the normal one with black bits attached.

As for something original, I reckon the Elites should a naked head helm (careful now), and a body piece which is sort of like roman plate mail, and shoulder pads which kinda curve backwards and down towards the elbow, kinda like spines (or handles :P)

As for the Spartan, I give you the Leonidas armour variant :>

I would say marine Armor, but then you see the face…

Councilor armor, um…and I think that’s all the differing armors in the game.

But still, the Heretic armor should be released for ELITES! \/\/3 /\/33|)Z /\/R3 4R/\/R3Z!!!(We needz more armorz!)

    For Spartans:
Huge, bulky armor resembling medieval plate armor, with large shoulder plates, and a chest that will still fit in proportion to the legs.
And one awesome visor. But uh…make it out of Titanium-A, not iron.

    For Elites:
Armor that almost screams “fast”. With sleek, aerodynamic curves and contour lines, the armor comes with shoulder plates with swept back, same as the helmet. Actually, it’ll kinda look like a hedgehog, but fast and mobile as well. Add a sword and you’re done!

Definitely more Elite armor. Maybe not Honor Guard or Councilor though (the large pieces would make them too easy to spot). I don’t really know what, since I’m not creative, just asking for Bungie to put the same effort for Spartan armor into Elite armor. And Brutes. Same ease of hitting the head (yes, the hitboxes are all the same, but the sticky aim of Halo makes it harder to swipe shoot an Elite head than a Spartan head; almost exclusively a SWAT problem- sniping or normal BR their shields first, then headshot is the same difficulty as Spartans.).

  90. How about JMB armor? (Japanese Mountain Biker)

it was an old concept art for Master Cheif before the original Mac-based FPS Halo came out. He looked kinda like MJOLNIR Mark 4 (dubbed the halo wars armor) but a japanesey look added along with a LAAG bullet chain wrapped around him.

for elites, a more ninja approach. They are allways using camo and nija like tactics, so they should have a ninja armor.

i also second the SPI armor, but they should make it SPI mark III. it would have the same features a regular (maybe regular is not the word) mark VI armor, but more compact, and when a person with SPI armor on, the assualt rifle looks like a MA5K, a cut-down version of the standard MA5C, but looks cooler. maybe even add the MA5K as a weapon. and a whole new set of maps! Onyx jungle, Forrunner city, and Onyx Core! it would be called, the Ghosts of Onyx map pack. But maybe im getting ahead of myself. Conclusion: make SPI armor mark III and an elite ninja armor, and maybe the MA5K.

okay, i would create ghillie armor! it would be harder to unlock than the katana, but if you assigned it to your spartan on a multiplayer match, your guy wouldn’t have to be red or blue. he would only show up as his real color to his own team. but to the other team, it would look like ghillie. It would also change colors depending on the map. Like if he were on valhalla, he’d be a mossy green. sandtrap= light colored desert shrubs. and i’d be the the first one to have it because i created it!!!
