I have not purchased a single song for Rock Band from the Xbox 360 Marketplace. I find it to be too pricey of an endeavor to get hooked on so I have simply avoided it altogether. A few of the songs on the list of next week’s Rock Band downloadable content are simply screaming my name though. As a leg warmer wearing, Cabbage Patch doll carrying, big hair sporting child of the ’80s, I find the staples from that era to be completely irresistible, especially since Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s was never brought to the Xbox (bastards). If you love the hairspray friendly ’80s as well, I’m sure at least one of these songs will need to be added to your Rock Band repertoire. Excuse me while I go dig out my old shoulder pads in anticipation.
Devo – “Girl U Want” (new original recording) – 160 MSP ($1.99)
Devo – “Through Being Cool” (new original recording) – 160 MSP ($1.99)
Duran Duran – “Girls on Film” – 160 MSP ($1.99)
Duran Duran – “Rio” – 160 MSP ($1.99)
The Janitors – “Get Your Rock On” – 80 MSP ($0.99)

Those Devo tracks are out of this world. Duran Duran? Um, not so much.

See, I’m just the opposite as you SpaceGhost. I’m stoked about the Duran Duran songs, not at all for the Devo ones. :)

There’s something particularly wonderful about playing Journey’s More Than A Feeling – you really should download that!

That is so right about there not being something to the equivalent of Rocks the 80’s and although there’s probably a handful of songs I wouldn’t mind, I just don’t see the need to buy more content so that I can have those songs included.
Now if a Duran Duran pack was released…

Did Journey do “More Than A Feeling” or did you mean the Boston song?
I hated Duran Duran, which came out when I was in HS. I even made a girl friend of mine a “No Duran Duran” t-shirt, so it went beyond casual annoyance. I never listened to Devo at all except for “Whip It” which was everywhere. Then a friend had a tape in college that I got to listen to. I wasn’t a huge fan, but I liked a few. The two that are listed are two I liked. I’m interested because they say they’re new recordings. Last thing I heard Mark Mothersbaugh did was the theme to Rugrats, lol.
