Stick Figure Forge Fight
August 12, 2008 12 Comments
Way back in the day when I was in grade school we didn’t have laptops, cell phones, or handheld consoles. In fact the abacus had yet to be invented and nobody had even heard of the wheel. So when we got insanely bored by the incessant ramblings of our sleep-inducing teachers, we were forced to make crude but entertaining flip books. These animated sequences were made by drawing basic actions on consecutive pages and then flipping through them quickly, a simple action that made the drawings leap to life right before our eyes. This Halo 3 video that features a stick figure fight created in Forge reminds me a lot of those flip books my friends and I used to make. It’s very simple, very short (a mere 12 seconds long), and quite honestly nothing even remotely spectacular, but it is extremely innovative. There is just so much potential with this idea. Hopefully someone will come along and expand upon it to create a true masterpiece. If that person is you, please note that teabagging and sex do not qualify as masterpieces. Not this time anyways.

It really engenders hope about video game movies.
That is absolutely brilliant. It must have been fiddly getting those weapons in just the right spot for each frame.
Short and sweet, not too bad. Though the choice of song is a bit lacking. I’d like to see a Forge-Flipbook that was done “Hot-Fuzz” style.
Angel was there at the begining of the world, and she we will be there at the end…betraying her comrades and looking at spartan pr0n.
It was a good and very creative use or Forge. :)
Music sucked though.
Ah, brings back the memories of watching all those Flash Stick-Figure battles to the death.
That was awesome! You got me thinking though. how you were saying when growing up you didn’t have all these technologies, but now there are awesome technologies everythwere. So I was wondering, if combining gaming of this level with the mobile technology, like the Motorokr’s awesome video capability, fast internet access, and Java capability, the quality of mobile games would be a tremendous breakthrough, and we can start playing these kind of games on the go from anywhere. What do you guys think?
Save your phone advertising for myspace, thats what i think.
Man I was excited to finally get to a computer to see this stick fight… and it’s was 10 seconds :-(
A clever idea this is, but the execution is lacking. This would be a pretty time consuming project to make smooth, though, so I can’t really knock ‘em for giving it a try.
Holy shit.
Where’s the blood?
