Weta’s New Line of Halo 3 Limited Edition Sculptures

Weta, a company most known amongst Halo fans for creating a completely bad ass fully functional Warthog, has released a preview of their new line of Halo 3-themed limited edition sculptures. While the collectibles have apparently been in the works for nearly a year, they are currently finalizing the last few details and then will formally be accepting pre-orders. One of the pieces is Master Chief’s Mark VI Spartan Helmet, which seems a little like overkill to me. Everybody already has one helmet gathering dust somewhere, do we really need two? While that particular piece seems destined for people with bulging wallets and lots of empty shelf space, I do find the Cortana scuplture really quite stunning. No word on pricing quite yet but considering they are described as “high end”, don’t get your hopes up about snagging any of them for less than a pretty penny. Check out pictures of the rest of the line after the jump and then tell me if any of them catch your discerning eye.

Futura Resistance

So I bet you are busy ogling the absolutely gorgeous theme in the picture above. Titled “Futura Resistance” and described as “grunge meets high-tech”, it was a popular entry in the DP Content Creation Challenge, a contest where gamers were given the chance to try their hand at creating original Dashboard themes. As of yesterday, you are now able to purchase this completely bad ass theme on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for a mere 150 Microsoft Points. For less than $2 you not only get a theme that looks positively beautiful, but you also get to support a fellow talented gamer. So where exactly can you find it? I’m so glad you asked!

  • Go to the “Marketplace” tab on your Xbox 360
  • Select the “Games Store” option
  • From there choose “Themes and Gamer Pictures”
  • Go to “Independents”
  • You will then see “Disruptive Publishers” where this theme will be located

Themes like this one will look especially beautiful once the new Dashboard is released. Hit the jump to check out the rest of the blades then hop on over, grab yourself a new theme, and revel in its beauty. Oh, and congratulate the artist if you feel so inclined. Now if you’ll excuse me, my boring old Dashboard is in dire need of a makeover.

I am a Predicting Trajectory Master

While this video has the typical YouTube description of “the best halo 3 snipe you will see in your life”, it should be characterized as “an extremely lucky snipe that I didn’t mean to do but don’t tell anybody because I like to act like I am a bad ass at predicting trajectories”. Skip until it is 35 seconds in (there is no need to watch the first part) and then watch a sniper bullet ricochet three times before entering some unsuspecting soul’s skull. Seeing clips like this aggravate me for two reasons, one being these things absolutely never happen to me. If my bullet is going to ricochet numerous times, it is going to hit a teammate or an explosive barrel located within one inch of said teammate. The other reason is that shouldn’t that damn bullet stop bouncing off of everything at some point? What do you think? Do you like the fact that sniper bullets bounce around like an invincible bat out of hell or would you prefer them to stop at some point, preferably before entering your face?
