The wildly popular “Why every guy should buy their girlfriend Wii Fit” video has gotten 5,493,051 views to date. Not too shabby for a one minute long video of someone playing with a virtual hula hoop, eh? Lauren Bernat, the undies and t-shirt wearing girl featured in the video, even managed to extend her 15 minutes of fame with an appearance on MTV’s TRL. Fans that have taken a liking to her now have a chance to buy a brand new Nintendo Wii Fit signed by the Wii Fit Girl herself.

While the Wii Fit retails for approximately $90, there still appears to be an overall shortage as new bundles are currently selling for $120-$130 on eBay (come on Nintendo, fix your shit already). That puts the worth of her autograph at approximately $30-$40 before bidding even starts. Is her internet stardom potent enough to spark a potentially pricey bidding war, or has the novelty of the 15 minutes already worn off? Unless you find an auction for the version signed by the Wii Fit Boy, I don’t think I care.

This makes me wonder if I should buy Wiifit myself solely to sell it for a higher value. Thanks to my work at the toyshop I can acquire it first in line with every shipment.

I keep meaning to buy Wii Fit, but I don’t have a spare £100 lying around anywhere at the moment, plus nowhere seems to have it in stock at the moment. It’s strange, I got my Wii during the ‘shortage’ last year, just walked in to a Virgin Megastore and bought their last one. Kinda lucky I guess.
I can’t imagine that Wii Fit girl’s autograph is that valuable, although people will pay a premium for anything these days. Does she have a name other than Wii Fit girl I wonder? Kinda sucks that she can’t sign her own name in her 15 minutes of fame.

Maybe Microsoft will sell a special edition Xbox 360 signed by Nathaniel. You know who I’m talking about.
Unless you find a Wii Fit which comes bundled WITH the Wii Fit Boy, I’m not that fussed.

The Wii Fit Girl’s real name is Lauren Bernat. Lauren and her boyfriend, Giovanny Gutierrez, work for an ad agency in Miami, FL. Apparently their video was a publicity stunt. I am not sure if her Internet stunt is worth the extra cash, but that’s just me.
