Play Call of Duty 4, Help Mya Walk Better

myaCharity Tournaments are one of the most satisfying structured video game activities you can participate in. Not only do you get to play your favorite video game but you also simultaneously make a tangible difference in the name of a worthy cause. Whether you take first place or last place, everybody who participates is a winner.

The Mya McIntosh Benefit Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare Tournament is a 6×6 best of three event taking place July 22nd-24th with the registration fee being a paltry $10 per person ($60 per team). Xbox Live Activity for the week of June 30th says that this game is the most played title right now so many of you still play this shooter on a regular basis. If you aren’t a part of the group that is keeping this title in the number one spot, prepare to pull your dusty game off the shelf to help support this important cause.

Charity Tournaments typically benefit a fellow gamer. This one is an exception. MacNTosh is a member of 8-Bit Brigade, a clan I have known and played with for almost two years now. He recently got laid off his job and is struggling financially. In today’s economy, his story is not an unique one. His daughter’s is though. Five years ago he was blessed with a beautiful little girl named Mya. Mya was twelve months old when she was formally diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Cerebral Palsy permanently affects body movement and muscle coordination and while it can’t be cured, treatment can dramatically improve a child’s capabilities. Mya has the opportunity to get a new procedure that will help her walk more uniformly, its effects of which last an amazingly long five years. Only five doctors in the world perform it, and Mya’s family found one that has an opening for July 23rd. With the recent loss of MacNTosh’s job, they need help covering expenses from traveling, lodging, and everything their medical insurance does not cover. If you are a parent, you will immediately understand that not taking this opportunity is simply not an option. Sometimes things, such as this, are important enough that you just do it and figure things out afterwards. All proceeds from this tournament will help Mya in her journey to walk better.

If you play Call of Duty 4, go register for the Mya McIntosh Benefit Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare Tournament here. If you are like me and don’t play this game but still want to contribute, simply go to Mya’s CP Surgery Trip and click the “ChipIn!” button on the top right part of the page. Every single dollar counts.

If you want to play but don’t have enough people to form a full team, email me via my contact form with your gamertag, an email address I can contact you at, and how many people you need to round off your team and I will do my best to match you up with other people looking to participate.

  1. Anything to help our a fellow gamer and especially, a child in need. I’ll see if I can set up a team from GameBetties.com and contribute.

I love that gamers are willing to pay to do something they can do [relatively] free just to help raise money for a good cause. I haven’t played COD4 since i beat the campaign…but i think i could bring it back for a little while…

    *looks around*

Now I just need some team members…

  5. Is there a way to play the tournament but on a different gaming platform like PS3? I got a few members of my clan who wants to be in on this but are mostly PS3 owners. Like donate towards the cause but play under a different platform or something.

  6. Man I got tears in my eyes seeing my precious daughter on your site and say thanks for helping promote this. Actually crying while I type this and I wish I could be there to play, but will actually be in Galveston and not sure I could get a connection, nor would Mya allow me to play during Daddy Time.

From the Bottom of Naomi and My Heart, THANK YOU Angel (that name fits) and all.

Oh man, you are going to make me cry which would absolutely ruin my reputation.

    I’m happy to help. Always.

This is what the gaming community is all about. Standing up and being there for each other in difficult times. This is how Angel rolls, mr. McIntosh.
It is an honor just to be playing the same game as that kind of people.

While I am sure many of us would love to you there playing with us, Matthew, “Daddy Time” is far more important. Hopefully this community can pull some big numbers and get you the support you need. Best Wishes!

  11. Matthew, you know that Mya and your family is in our prayers. And I hope that we can help you in anyway to make this event a success.
