Awesome Halo-Themed and Autographed Guitar

When I initially laid eyes upon this spectacular custom painted Halo-themed guitar over at Halo Museum, I instantly wanted to know more about this incredibly unique item. Being the nosy person that I am, I began relentlessly harassing the individual on the other end of the website, first via Xbox Live and then through a constant bombardment of emails. Lucky for him my thirst for information has finally been satiated. Turns out one man’s quest that started over 13 months ago finally reached its state of completion last week.

Fellow Halo fanatic Paul Bliss wanted a custom guitar and found a “flame” body which was signed by Steve Vai on eBay. Yes, that would be the same Steve Vai that performed the heavy rock-guitar rendition of the Halo Theme (Mjolnir Mix) on the Halo 2 Volume 1 soundtrack. (If you are anything like me, you have probably strummed your heart out to that song numerous times on Guitar Hero III.) Paul won the auction for that un-finished, autographed body and knew he wanted to make it into something special.

As Paul began building up his website, he got struck with a sudden bolt of inspiration from his recurring Master Chief vs series. Determined to get everybody’s favorite Spartan on his guitar, he began contacting various guitar shops for customization services. Unfortunately he quickly found out that nobody would touch his guitar between the autograph and the body shape. After being denied by approximately 20 different shops, a friend of his swooped in and saved the day by recommending Halo Guitars. Well-versed in the art of guitar customization, Halo Guitars took Paul’s un-finished, autographed guitar body and turned it into every guitar playing Halo fanatic’s dream. Thirteen months and $2,390 later, Paul finally has his version of the ultimate Halo-themed masterpiece. He reports that it not only looks good but plays great too.

Do you think he would be willing to modify it into a Guitar Hero guitar because that would be totally awesome. Oh don’t get your panties in a twist, I’m just kidding. Maybe.

Wow, very cool. If only Steve had that when he played the Mjolnir Mix at The Hollywood Bowl.

Hotness. I really don’t know much about guitars, but it seems this gentleman spent quite a large sum on this. $2,400 for the customization, and an autographed guitar can’t be cheap either.

  3. Morpheus says:

    Wow, that’s beautiful.

    I mean unbelievable.

  4. bvl says:

i want. i cant even play guitar, or guitar hero for that matter, but i want that guitar so badly. that is one seriously awesome piece of memorabilia

  5. Jonathan B. says:

Wow, that is seriously the best looking guitar I’ve ever seen.

  6. Ahart says:

Wow that is pretty awesome but as far as a nice guitar goes that thing probaly sounds like shit, a single hummmerback isnt that great and by its shape the internals are probably pretty cramped

  7. Spartan DC-17 says:

That’s a rather cool guitar, perhaps I ought to do a custom paint job on my bass eventually.

    Absolutely sick!!!
You know, in the good way. People still say that, right?

  9. John CB says:

Pfft…. I’d rather have a guitar shaped like an energy sword.

  10. Bryan O says:

Nice but is Master Chief bumpmaped? there’s no textures on him!

  11. aussie_spartan says:

Its been scientifically proven that adding the Chief to something increases its cool factor by 10.

@ Ahart – Actually, the EMG pickup creates and incredible tone – very similar to Stevie Ray Vaughan’s. It’s got a fat neck and heavy gauge strings (.054). The sustain is very similar to a Stratocaster without the ‘twang’. My only complaint is that it has a Trem King and not a Floyd Rose, otherwise, it’s one heck of a piece of machinery.
