MLG san diego chill out announcement

Bungie promised to unveil a surprise at MLG San Diego this weekend, and last night they delivered in the shape of a (not so new) map. Lukems and Shishka, along with two of MLG’s biggest stars Karma and Legend, played a 2v2 exhibition match on Cold Storage, a soon to be released remake of a favorite Halo: Combat Evolved map known as Chill Out. The official date it will be available and any relevant pricing information has not yet been released but you can check out some pictures and read more about it over at mlgpro.com. At the risk of being Debbie Downer, I would have preferred a new map as our last map pack already contained two remakes but beggars can’t be choosers, right?

Well, let me be the lame-o to disagree with you, because I have never played “Chill-Out” and am looking forward to all the new maps I can get! =D

Thanks for the heads up though!

I think Chill Out might work better in Halo3 than in CE
    don’t know why though

I was never really a fan of chill out. At LANs it was just a fight over the lone shotgun, the OS hallway and rockets.

Hopefully it will work out well in H3.

I’m with angel though: new maps, not remakes.

  6. I agree with Fezzer. Chill Out just didn’t appeal to me as much as some of the other maps. Sure I loved them all, because it was Halo, but it was never really on the top of our custom games playlist. I never did understand why MLG freaks went crazy over it. It was like Halo CE’s Lockout.

I’d much rather see some entirely new maps, but just the one remake I want to see is Boarding Action. Hands down the best sniper map in the series, and Halo 3 desperately needs a good sniper map.

I’m split on things of this nature. I like new maps just because they are new, then it depends on any number of things after I have gotten used to it to see if I really like it where as with remakes of maps I know I’m pretty much always happy as I get that nostalgia feel.

When I heard about Blackout I almost gave birth…instantly.

However I never really played Halo: CE so this will be new in the sense that I have only ever seen MLG stuff from chill out in the past I hear its pretty popular with those that played CE so I’m excited about it.

I remember playing match after match after match of this on Halo CE, of course, it was with 16 people since it was the PC edition, and therefore I had little clue what was going on and grenades were exploding everywhere, however, I’m looking forward to it =D

And is it me, or do I predict a lot of “Surprise unveilings” of new maps at MLGs in the future?

  10. This was never said to be in the next map pack. So, the next map pack could still have like 2 new maps and a remake…

  11. You know, we can be choosers. If we decide to not buy the map. I’m going to wait a while before buying the new pack because it takes them so long to integrate into MM playlists.
