Machinima, and Bungie’s Favorites, and Community! Oh, My!

If you have a thing for machinima, have always had a secret desire to be on Bungie’s favorites, or just enjoy the camaraderie of the Halo 3 community, reserve the fourth weekend of May for the third annual Red vs. Blue CanWest community event. Taking place in the beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia, this Rooster Teeth machinima screening event has a plethora of activities going down on both Saturday, May 24th and Sunday, May 25th. Saturday’s festivities include a screening of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and Sunday is the actual CanWest event (which is a mix of community and industry panels, selected machinima, and also some music). Of course bar festivities will round off both evenings for all interested attendees. A weekend pass for both days of activities will only run you a paltry $25 CND (the proceeds of which will be generously donated to everybody’s favorite gamer charity Child’s Play).
There are also two contests being held in conjunction with this event. The first is a Themed Photo Capture Contest in which you “submit your best representation of “Community”, in whatever form you think it may take”. The second is a Short Film Clip Contest with submitted clips being one minute max in length. While you have to be present at CanWest to win, the first place prize of being awarded Bungie Favorites is really a pretty sweet deal.
Between the chance of being on Bungie’s Favorites and also DigitalPh33r showing an exclusive “original double-length Arby ‘n’ the Chief episode entitled Arby ‘n’ the Chief: The Movie” (which will thankfully appear on the internet shortly thereafter), this is definitely an activity you should consider attending if you are in the area. I wanted to try to get there but unfortunately couldn’t clear my schedule for those particular dates. If you end up going, please tell my sweet friend Kari I said hello. I would say give her a big hug from me but she probably wouldn’t appreciate your grubby paws all over her quite like she enjoys mine.

I will be in attendance again this year, and I will say from personal experience that it is a great time. If you can find the time to make it out to Vancouver that weekend, you’ll have a great time.
I hope people will enjoy this event, I enjoy throwing it each year.
A screening of the new Indiana Jones on May 24th and 25th?
errr, please correct me if I’m mistaken, but doesn’t Indy come out May 22nd?
