A Robot You Can Play With

22 04 2008

I have had a thing for robots ever since the day Johnny 5 first made an appearance in Short Circuit. If you are asking “Who’s Johnny?” (someone better pick up on what I just did there), then perhaps instead you will be familiar with WALL-E, the robot from a Pixar movie expected to release this summer. While I thought of Johnny 5 when I first saw this custom Gamecube, younger people will probably recognize WALL-E right away.

This robotic console, which stands approximately 10″ tall and about 9 1/2″ wide, is an one of a kind custom fully functional Nintendo GameCube. He comes with all the cables and also a controller so he is ready to play with you in a way only a Nintendo GameCube robot can. The builder really did a great job making him look just like WALL-E. Of the side by side images, the picture on the left is the Nintendo GameCube, the picture on the right is from the movie. Pretty cool, eh?

UPDATE : This item sold for US $122.50.

I can’t get that damn song out of my head now. It’s worse than a Rick Roll!

Short Circuit for the win!

Honestly, I can’t believe how many of my friends my age had no idea what I was talking about when I told them Pixar took a page from Johnny 5’s book when they modeled Wall-E.

>_<

@ Assassin:

Uh… oh. If Hollywood’s track record with remakes goes to show anything, this probably wont end well.

Considering the awesomeness that Short Circuit is, here’s hoping they don’t push things too far from the original story…

Johnny she said, who is Johnny?

Short Circuit and Short Circuit 2 are both on OnDemand’s free movies right now. You can be sure I’ve watched both already. For like the 20th time in my life.

I prefer “Here Comes Johnny!” by Weird Al. I hope this fact helps get this song out of your head.
