*WARNING : This article is about a scam designed to either harm your computer or take your Xbox Live account. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE PROGRAM ASSOCIATED WITH THIS VIDEO.
There is a video on YouTube right now advertising a program called Microsoft Points Generator. It claims that after downloading the program, all you need to do is enter your Windows Live ID and password and you can magically receive whatever amount of Microsoft Points you desire. My purpose with this article is to spread the word to not download this program. I know most of you would not fall for this but by the looks of the comment section, unfortunately some people already have. There is an old saying that goes “If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.” That definitely applies in this situation.
What will those people actually get if they aren’t going to receive an unlimited amount of Microsoft Points? Best case scenario they downloaded a trojan or harmful virus onto their computer. Worst case scenario they just gave away their Xbox Live account. The creator of that program now has their Windows Live ID and password, which is all you need to take the account and credit card information associated with that account.
Please help pass the word about this deceptive scam. Knowledge is power. I think sometimes we assume everybody has enough common sense to not fall for obvious fraudulent schemes such as this, but Xbox Live has many young users that don’t have enough experience quite yet to recognize when they are being victimized. Don’t be a victim, and don’t let your friends be a victim either. We are a tight knit community who watches each other’s backs. Let’s continue to do so.
*A thank you to Laird for alerting me of this scam.

Egads!
Thank you for putting this info up. Hopefully this scam can get halted before it does too much damage.

There are so many young Xbox Live users that really don’t have a clue about this stuff. It is horrible that people prey on that vulnerable, innocent crowd.

Well that is really lame. I hope they get caught and thrown in jail.
All those “proof” screens are all faked.

Angel, I got a taste of what hapenned when you take the “fast” road by loosing close to a $1300 to get an opportunity for a home credit. Since I got in initially I knew in my heart that something would go wrong, and at the end it did. God knows history is full of people praying on one’s hope (or in some cases like this, our own stupidity)

Ouch. That sounds like a painful lesson. I think we have all probably had an experience like that that we have learned from (although maybe not that bad). It is part of what helps us see the scams later on down the road. Hope everything turned out ok for you.

Looks like Microsoft took it down :)

This guy does not know when to quit! He just reposted the video 40 minutes ago at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cP14tmTARXM
If your video was ordered to be taken down by Microsoft, why the hell would you the next day, just repost it?

I was looking for a cheaper way to get ms points and i came across this video. I knew something was up seeing how easy it was and the fact they were’nt calling it a hack. And if the ponits are legit i feel that it will transfer something malicious on my pc. There are a bunch of these things that promise you points but thats all part of the lure.

First of all, thanks for this post. You are not alone. I should listen to the old saying, “If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.” nothing is free. And if someone offer to you, you should have second though about it.
I just found this out myself, they work in a group. First I got a voice message from a gamtag: “B U IL IL E T” to invite you to their live party, and gamtag: “JaSoN iZ BacK” will help you setup the point generate. Once you leave the meeting you get another message from “FLYING PANDA xX” saying:
“YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE STOLEN IN EXACTLY 1 HOUR AND 30 MINUTES. SORRY”
The Jason guy also made a video for you to download a software that can do similar thing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m63qy1ws13I
People other there, beware! and report this to Microsoft.
These people can face as much as two years in prison and a fine as high as $40,000 on the charge. In his plea agreement, he said he would return the $112,000 he made from the scheme.
Thanks again for this post.
