Fake eBay Listings Using Nathaniel’s Images

There is currently a fake eBay listing using my images from the article about Nathaniel’s well known Halo 3 goody bag. Nathaniel is not selling a single thing he so generously received from Bungie. He is so grateful for their kind and thoughtful gesture and he cherishes each and every item he recieved.

Every image used in that auction is copyrighted. I subtly mark all of my images so I can prove with 100% certainty that they are stolen. I have already messaged the offending seller via eBay kindly requesting that the images be taken down immediately. An Intellectual Property Infringement complaint is in the process of being filed as well. This person may very well be selling a signed Legendary helmet, but the helmet being sold is not the one being represented in the images.

A fake listing of Nathaniel’s case went up on eBay when the first story began circulating. A complaint was filed in that auction and it was successfully pulled by eBay quickly thereafter. Any eBay listing I find that is stealing my images will have a formal complaint filed against them. Violating copyright is a serious offense, as is posting a fake and misleading eBay auction.

Anybody doing this absolutely disgusts me. When people pull my images to accompany a story on their website, that is one thing. When someone steals my images in an attempt to make $10,000, that is a crime. Let me assure you that I, along with Nathaniel, will use every resource available to protect the integrity of everything relating to this story.

Great. Some greedy jackass is going to make this look very bad for me if people find this and don’t know it is fake.

  4. Ok… I’ve alerted e-bay and responded personally to every blog I’ve found that has reported that I’m attempting to sell the helmet.

In addition, my thoughts can be found in my latest RvB journal.

  7. Agreed, there’s fair use (even just in spirit) and then there’s theft.

I think i’m going to start watermarking my picture of the day images, not that I can’t prove they’re mine, but still…

I filed a complaint and sent the user a message also, so maybe it’ll get looked at quicker :P As soon as I saw it, I knew it was fake, because the picture was the one that I saw on here. What a jerkoff.

  10. Revshawn I agree with you. The person who did this auction is the king of stupid.

Also I made an account on ebay just to file a complaint and messaged the seller to get this auction pulled ASAP. And if another one pops up (hopefully not) I’ll do the same.

(I’ve meaning to make an account for a while now but been too lazy to do so but this guy has pissed me off enough to get of my lazy ass and make one)

  12. I reported it too. Should be down soon hopefully.

The good thing is that no one is likely to bid $5,000 for it.

  14. I reported it as well, i cant believe that it is still up though. I mean honestly if you read the description, there is no way that is could be real. Im really glad that no one has wasted their time by bidding on the auction. People make me sick.
