This custom designed drum set was used in the studio to record dozens of drum tracks for Guitar Hero 2, 3, Rocks the 80s, and Rock Band. In case you are interested (since us Guitar Hero nuts tend to be into finishes and whatnot), the color is sunburst fade over mapa burl. Specifics include :

Not many people were surprised when Toshiba finally announced that they will no longer develop, manufacture and market HD DVD players and recorders. When Microsoft followed suit with their statement that they were withdrawing from HD DVD, rumors began to circulate about how low the price for the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player would drop. Official word is that you can now expect to pick up this add on for an estimated $49.99 in most regions.

$50 is actually low enough that I would consider purchasing this right now. An additional USB port sounds nice (it would especially come in handy if I played Rock Band *cough*) and there are tons of sales out there on HD DVDs. The “Get 5 free movies when you buy select HD DVD players” deal is good for a few more days, and Amazon is having a “Save 50% on HD DVDs” sale for a limited time as well. Many of their titles are discounted even deeper than half off so you can find some great bargains in there. Perhaps the time is finally right if you have been on the fence about making this purchase, or maybe it is just time to say good riddance and get a Blu-ray player.

Portal’s pink heart covered paper weighted companion cube is so yesterday. Catch up with the times by instead creating the lovable turret from everybody’s favorite action filled puzzle game. Making one of these would be the perfect way to celebrate the newly announced Portal 2. Beware though, apparently this paper turret tips over just as easily as the turrets in the actual game.

The current Xbox 360 video game library is stocked full of entertaining titles to play. Whether you like shooters, role-playing games, puzzle arcade titles, or any of the numerous genres in between, you are sure to have a handful of favorites that you routinely play. VG Cats recently posted the cutest comic that plays dress up with everybody’s favorite spherical creature Kirby. Out of the 100 impersonations of various video game characters, of course my favorites were Cortana and Master Chief.

Bioshock’s Big Daddy ran a very close second (#100). Go check out the full strip and if you can’t recognize one of them at first glance, don’t worry. I won’t tell anyone you had to use the handy reference guide at the bottom. n00b.

October 2007 was an awesome era for Halo 3-themed faceplates. Early that month we saw three different themes, Master Chief in gold, Legendary in copper, and Covenant in blue. The latter part of the month brought us a classic green Finish the Fight plate along with a brightly colored Prophet of Regret offering. All of them were creative, unique, and more than visually appealing. Then along came November with no Halo-themed faceplates. I shed many a tears. December also hurt with the gaping void of my favorite seven foot tall Spartan. By the time January arrived, I was hardened to the pain and only felt slightly bitter. With one cursory glance this latest faceplate manages to erase the pain and suffering from the last four Halo-free faceplate months.

This Xbox 360 faceplate will appeal to the vast majority of Master Chief fans with its classic Halo green coloring, the simple Halo 3 logo, and the adorable little Grunt adorning the power button. And think about it this way too, with each faceplate made with a different character we get a step closer to a Cortana one. Because you know it’s coming. After we are done celebrating the Grunt birthday of course.
