Halo 3 – How to Pick Up an Overshield as Equipment

I didn’t know you could pick up the overshield as equipment when playing Halo 3. I don’t think it would be particularly useful in actual gameplay as you need another piece of equipment in order to activate it but it’s still interesting. Did everybody already know this? Am I way behind? Because that would be so not typical. LOL …

  1. That’s… bizarre. And useless. But interesting.

Wow, if you could actually deploy the overshield when you chose to like equipment, that would be incredibly, incredibly helpful and strategic to gameplay, same for the camo. Just think of the possibilities.

i had no idea. sounds like a fun trick when I play with my friends though… “How did the active cheating/overshield get over here…”

  5. It was actually found a few days after the game was released. It’s kind of cool and interesting, but utterly useless, as people have said. The only thing I could think it could be used for would be to keep the other team from using it…but not only would that be a poor strategy because you wouldn’t really be allowed to die, I’m not sure it wouldn’t just respawn anyway after you pick it up.

  6. That seems really pointless. I do like the idea of being able to deploy an overshield, why don’t we have that?

  7. I’m going to have to concur with it being a fun trick to play when in a ranked game. Have someone kill you and then out pops an overshield or camo. I think it’ll be way easier to get with overshield on the pit, simply because like the example, you can pick up that regnerator first.

I’m definitely doing this tonight to screw around with peeps. :D

Would be great, but entirely unfair with Oversheild. Active camo, ok, but oversheild, if you could deploy that at will?

Remember that you are invincible while the overshield is charging. So, someone surprises you with a laser dot at your face? Well, just hit ‘X,’ and start shooting. Then grab laser. Same with just about anything if someone surprises you. While cool, I’m glad its useless.

What happens when you pick up another pickup? Does the overshield drop and you get to use it or what?

“..I hope this helped.” Helped us what! It just helps us help the opposition, when we die they get the over shield!

you understand this is NOT useless right? this is incredibly helpful in a team doubles format. You hold the OS and if you die your partner is invincible temporarily and wipes out the 2 enemies.
