Rorschach Inkblot Test – Last Resort

Last week’s Rorschach Inkblot Test using Epitaph’s Halo 3 global heatmap was particularly interesting because while there were a few people who agreed about what they saw, the vast majority of the answers were unique. This time around only 15.5% of the answers were video game related compared to 26% the week before. Since there wasn’t a prevalent answer, I will compare and contrast my favorite two answers in images.
Susie said it resembled a “cruciform plan, short nave, wide transept, round ambulatory at the end — it looks really similar to the plan of Chartres Cathedral.” (BlueNinja and Skinnydude said something similar as well.)
Annnnnano thought it simply looked like an “overhead view of a Mauler” (with JawReich agreeing).
I’d also like to give an honorable mention to Locket Raunchers for saying the same thing I was thinking. “Honestly, first thing that came to mind was Epitaph from above, with the lower level filled with a pool of blood. I suck at this.” It’s ok, I suck at it too.
This week has awesome potential though with our Rorschach Inkblot Test image being Last Resort. So tell me, what do you see when looking at this picture? As always, extra nonexistent points awarded for originality.
A nuclear explosion from above, in black and white, with heat sensors on.
It’s a Metroid from the Metroid game series, complete with nuclei and dangling little claws
Some sort of flying contraption, with a gun on top (and maybe a shield above that)
…nah, I got nothing.
First thing that came to my mind: I think it looks, like a skull…
Looks just a bit like the Millenium Falcon
i see what louis is saying…but i think more like a scarab that deployed a giant bubble shield

It looks like a diagonally-positioned alien from Space Invaders to me, with its head towards the top left of the circle, and its tentacle-thingies toward the bottom right of the circle.
Some sort of Cthulhu styled alien head. I mean, you can even see the tentacles down at the bottom and eyes up towards the top.
I see an exploding plasma grenade.
I kinda see a forerunner glyph.

The bottom part looks a bit like a milipede or something…
The top is definately a dinosaur’s body (Some kind of long-necked one) with a screaming ghost for a head. Oh, and the ghost has a wrecking-ball for an arm. :)

Bowling ball. You can kinda see 3 holes in the top left quadrant.
it looks like a storm on a Doppler radar, that’s probably cuz it don’t look like anything

Death Star. also, with all the strange long red lines, I assume those are corridors on the sea wall, it reminds me of the guy’s nose from A Clockwork Orange

can’t help but think it’s one of the eggs from aliens or some other game/movie franchise.
If you start at the top it looks like dragon head. Then if you follow it across you see the neck then the body. And the giant red spot can be the wing stretching from the body.

on second thought it looks like the che guevara of the cuban revolution. google him to see his image if you dont know who he is.
The first thing that came to mind, was the oddball. But then I looked at it for a bit longer, and I see Pac-man eating one of the ghosts.
yeah I’d have to say the Deathstar with some TIE fighters.

It looks like the heat signature of the bomb on assault after it had gone off.
A mushroom or a tree from above.
And there’s a definite kill spike at the beach spawn point. Not like anyone spawnkills.
From what I understand, it’s actually supposed to be modeled after the common cathedral design. The cross shape is how almost every cathedral or church is designed.
I believe you are right Matt. Louis Wu pointed me in the direction of this article, Halo 3 Turns French Cathedral Into Electronic Battleground. I didn’t know any of that, it’s actually pretty cool.

Looks to me like some people dancing around a fire or something, look closely and you can see they are holding hands as they run around it.
