Shake it, Shake it, Shake it, Like a Party Animal

Being a parent is a difficult job. It requires you to put your children’s needs before your own. It means that sometimes you make sacrifices for them, even when it is a difficult and painful thing to do. I have been busy spending my afternoons being a good parent. And by that I mean I have been playing Viva Piñata: Party Animals with my kiddos and letting them beat me. I say letting them beat me because obviously I wouldn’t lose to children under the age of 12 at any video game, much less one that features cheery bright paper mache animals doing silly things like burping. Seriously, I got mad skillz yo. I may have been acting like I was trying my hardest but I really wanted them to be able to savor the sweet taste of victory. I don’t care what you say, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Viva Piñata: Party Animals features more than 40 mini-games and a dozen foot races for some crazy party game fun. The colors are bright, the characters are adorable, and everything is simply ridiculously cute. This game is definitely made for a younger audience but parents will have fun playing it with their children as well. Up to four players can battle it out, either on the same console or over Xbox Live.

An Ode To Xbox Live Not Working

master chief crying

It is finally the moment I wait for all week
The time to game has arrived
I anxiously turn on my Halo-themed 360
and sign into Xbox Live

I think of the good times that await me on Halo
Then the unthinkable happens
I look at my screen with a horrified expression
And cringe while reading the caption

Can’t connect to Xbox Live? Signing in has failed?
Oh no, this simply cannot be
I sit and stare blankly at my television screen
I can no longer think clearly

I had so much fun with the last Arcade game giveaway that it is already time for another one. Tis the season for giving, right? Up for grabs today is Screwjumper!, a game that was released on the Xbox Live Arcade on 11.14.07. About this game (from Xbox.com) :

Take the plunge in Screwjumper! Freefall into the depths of the chaotic underworld as a Screwjumper, and drive the aliens back to their home world by destroying their precious mining equipment. Demolish structures in freefall as you increase your destructive power by increasing your velocity. Use dynamite to pick off hazards and high value targets. Destroy the mine core and jetpack out alive. Dead screwjumpers don’t get paid!

Multiple levels and characters: Descend and destroy 20 mines on four different planets with six different characters, including Skruii the foreman of the Screwjumpers Union, Filch the reckless thrill-seeker, Zyree the unpredictable, Xoona the aloof, Ula the mad, and Zomar the mysterious.
Ultimate destruction: Chain your destruction by plunging through objects at ultra-terminal speeds. You’re a screwjumper. Go for it!
Single player modes: Risk your neck in four single-player modes including Destruction, Race, Time Trial, and Score.
Multiplayer: Compete with your friends via split screen and Xbox LIVE® multiplayer.

If Screwjumper! sounds like your sort of game, just leave a comment on this article. I will allow entries for this giveaway for 24 hours and then will use a random integer generator to select a winner. When you leave your comment, remember to use a valid email address because that is how I will be sending the code. The winner will get an email tomorrow afternoon. Saturdays are the slowest day on my blog by far so if you are here, I would say you stand a pretty decent chance at winning. Comments will be closed when this giveaway is over so if you can still comment, you can still enter. Good luck!

Top Ten Things I Want for the Holidays

christmas tree

Dear Santa,

I’ve been good this year. Really! While my plasma grenades still tend to land on the backs of my teammates, my betrayals miraculously are at an all time low. I’ve stopped teabagging my friends every other second and instead have switched to only teabagging them when they deserve it (it’s not my fault they deserve it frequently). I try to share the shotgun now too. Sometimes I will even let a teammate use up a whole clip before I kill them for it. See, told ya I’ve been good! So here’s my list of things I would like for the holidays : (I decided to be low maintenance this year. You’re welcome.)
