My friends have many nicknames for me. I get called bs angle, bus, bs ankle, and bs antler just as much as I get called bs angel. Each nickname has a story behind it, none of which I will divulge here. *looks around nervously
A friend of mine who shall hereby be known as Zoom Lemon has been calling me bs antler for quite some time now. She found an emoticon that she thinks represents me perfectly. She even did the coding after me on our forums, :bsantler:.

I don’t think that is me though. I’m typically a bit more grumpy than that. Anyways, apparently my nickname of bs antler is even more appropriate now. The Blue Skittle made a festive Advent Calendar for 2007. A different gaming community was asked to do each day and today, the 7th, just happens to be Cavegirl day. Guess what? Again I have antlers.
I laughed when I saw it. I do believe my dear friend Tinkerbell made this. If that is correct, she will be called by her very popular nickname of Tinkersmell from here on out. At some point I will buy an antler headband and make my nickname official. Until then, drop by the calendar and check out the other pages! They are all very well done. Just don’t cheat and try to look ahead. Ooopy is watching.

Ooopy and Ash, you have been doing an amazing job with the Advent Calendar in general! I love looking at it each day. And I haven’t peeked, seriously. *looks around innocently

Silver a question – how is an advent calendar for the gaming community have to do with any one religion specifically?
its just a lil holiday fun and if you hadn’t noticed theres not one specified religion, but is for all of them. its just the name that you are assuming its not for you as well. you shouldnt be so quick to grumble. I would understand your post if it was all covered in crosses n shit. but its not.

Woot!
Posted by Silvercube on December 8, 2007 at 1:58 am
Just the fact its called an Advent Calendar. Hanukah shouldn’t be in there- it has nothing to do with Jesus. When something is named Advent- it should only have Christmas related themes in it.-
I just don’t understand why it could not have been called a Holiday Calendar- and just have holiday themes like Christmas, Hanukah, and Kwanza.
If this indeed for the gaming community, then the calendar should be more easily approachable.
And my comment was not meant to stir up anything. You have known me for awhile. You should know my personality by now. I’m very perky and upbeat.
If i had meant that comment in a serious fashion, I would have done this:
: ( or *-*

I’m not trying to be mean by saying all this, but i question why ruin a good thing with bringing in even the mention of religion?
You may have meant to say everything in a jokingly manner, but the way i read it was to make it about “you”.. and religion…
In case you didn’t know, which i am reading that you don’t. Here are a few definitions to what “Advent” means and not what you are associating the word with.
Definition: he arrival or coming to exist, esp. of something important.
Example: the advent of winter ; the advent of nuclear weapons.
OR
Advent: a coming into place, view, or being; arrival: the advent of the holiday season.
Synonyms 1. onset, beginning, commencement, start.
[Middle English, the Advent season, from Old French, from Latin adventus, arrival, from past participle of advenīre, to come to : ad-, ad- + venīre, to come; see gwā- in Indo-European roots.]
advent
So after reading those definitions, i would like to know now, how the calendar isn’t approachable?
An advent calendar is not in my religion either but i was never offend by it, but i am offend that you on different sites have may it about yourself in a way.
You probably didn’t intend upon it being that way, but you have to consider how people will take things when you right them. I think maybe in this case you should have thought about what you were saying before you said it.

Advent in the Christian terms is where they are awaiting for the resurrection of Jesus.
If this is a gaming community, it should be called Holiday Calendar- and have the day of Christmas listed, but also include Hanukah and Kwanza to appeal to others.
I am just offended that in this day and age we have not embraced accepting other’s beliefs.
If I were to make a Holiday Calendar, I would not write Hanukah calendar- I would write Holiday calendar, and include other holidays.
I am a very open minded individual, but when a calendar is released to the public, it should embrace other holidays, respectively.
Furthermore, if my Mom had seen this calendar, she would have flipped out. Just because its cute does not mean its respectful to everyone.
That is all I have to say in this matter.
Happy Holidays : )

Your just not getting it silver.. When Ooopy decided to make the calendar i know she never intended to imply any religion with it whatsoever. It just so happens thats what they are actually called/referred too. It has nothing to do with excluding/including anyone.
By you making these comments you have shown you not so ‘open minded’ and have taken something that is good for community awareness and community unity and put a label that can be blown into a huge controversy and i don’t feel that is fair to her or the communities involved. All this was to be was something fun to end 2007.
Posted by Silvercube on December 8, 2007 at 2:23 pm
I sent Ooopy a message on the blue skittle ok?
I am sorry if I took it the wrong way.
Its really not that controversial as it can be easily changed for upcoming years. The idea is nice. I really like it.
Just take into consideration the feelings of other individuals and the sensitives of others.
I know I am a minority, since most people on xbox live are probably of Christian or Catholic faith- but gaming is for everyone, even old Jewish grandmas! ^_^

Hey Cubie! How about Holiday Advent Calendar? In ACTUAL terms it IS a beginning…so by saying HOLIDAY ADVENT CALENDAR, everyone counts.
We’ll be sure to have it go until the 1st of January as well. But this years is done, hand drawn I might add! So hang in there with us. =]
Hi Angel!! <3 I love your antlers =P
Posted by bs angel on December 8, 2007 at 4:25 pm

Everyone that has commented on my antlers should photoshop their own picture with antlers. :)

I swear swear swear the antler thing never crossed my mind… its funny though how something can be stuck in your subconscience and it come out unintentionally! I cracked up when I saw what Zoom wrote on the forums… I suppose I am a clever girl after all!!! I was totally pleased with the way Ash completed this and I am glad that we got to participate in the calendar! What a fun little holiday activity!
Posted by Silvercube on December 8, 2007 at 6:39 pm
@ KilaMomjaro: Perfect! Thats wonderful. : )

And thanks tinkersmell :) its not exactly what i wanted to do but i think it turned out alright.

Oh man… what a mess over a simple word.
@Silvercube You shouldn’t make assumptions… If we tried to be PC on EVERYTHING, no one would ever speak or write. Heck.. even sign language or a glance could be offensive to someone. ;)
And I bet I win on being a minority with my beliefs :)
I am covering one of the days on the calendar for Winter Solstice which represents my beliefs… so we are just all over the place with this calendar :)
p.s. Nice antlers ‘bs antlers’! ;)

The picture is missing Ash, are you going to PAX next year?
Posted by ooopy on December 12, 2007 at 7:08 am
@Jenna I’m trying what I can to get her there…I may need help with the Ash travel fund, but if i can help get her there I will. Her being a fulltime student definitely takes from having excess cash
