Hawty McBloggy Nominated for 2007 Best Xbox Community Blog of the Year?

My incredibly geeky gaming blog where I have an absolute blast with each and every one of you has been nominated for 2007 Best Xbox Community Blog of the Year in Gamertag Radio’s 3rd Annual Xbox Community Awards.

what?

I received an email last week from Godfree telling me about the nomination. Other sites that have also been nominating starting posting articles right away. I however waited. I waited because I thought for sure he was going to email me back telling me there was some confusion and it was all a big mistake. I didn’t tell my clan, I didn’t tell my friends, I didn’t tell a single soul. Surely it was wrong.

Voting officially began last night and I double checked the ballots and sure enough my blog is on there. So the mistake has still not been corrected. They really need to get somebody on that.

third annual xbox community awards

Nominees for 2007 Best Xbox Community Blog of the Year include :

The Xbox Domain
I love this site and have been following it for several months now. I happily have the pleasure of interacting with one of their writers, Will, on a regular basis and I can tell you these guys are more than worthy of this award.

Aeropause
I wasn’t familiar with this site before the awards but after spending some time there, it is clearly an amazing site packed full of good information. I will definitely be making it a regular stop from here on out.

GAMINGtruth
Very cool site with so many neat features. They have wallpapers, reviews, editorials, forums, a store, just everything under the sun and it is all very well done.

360style.net
I love 360style.net. More importantly, I adore the man behind that site. Avid has been amazing to me from the second I started blogging and I have even had the pleasure of meeting him in real life. He is a class act, as is his website.

Hawty McBloggy
Uh, that’s me.

*To vote in the 3rd Annual Xbox Community Awards, you first need to register at the site. After being approved, you can find the voting categories here. The 2007 Best Xbox Community Blog of the Year thread is here. By voting you also have the chance to win some awesome prizes.

The first thing you will notice is that I don’t really fit in there. All the other sites nominated are bigger sites with staff, editors, advertisers, and they are all extremely professional. Then there is me, just sitting in the corner looking on from the sidelines. I feel about one inch tall surrounded by big leaguers. It’s very overwhelming to be surrounded by such awesomeness.

I have no delusions with this. I know I am out of my league, and that is ok with me. I am so extremely honored that they found my geeky ramblings to be worthy of a nomination. That is something my dreams are made of. I blog here because I am enjoy it, plain and simple. I am passionate about gaming, I am passionate about the community, I am passionate about all of you. I have so much fun writing incredibly silly stuff (Top 10 Romantic Halo 3 Lines Useful for Forge Proposals anyone?) and have found it to be such a creative outlet for me. Most importantly, I am so grateful for the interactions I am blessed with from all of you. There is nothing I love more than the random email, or chatting with everybody at my forum, or reading your comments and hearing your thoughts on everything. If it weren’t for you, my amazing reader, I wouldn’t still be doing this.

The Xbox Live community is very, very important to me. I have a blast every single time I sign on because of all of you. I have made so many friendships that are not just online but that are in real life too. I love this community for everything it has given me, from friends to great times to amazing experiences and everything in between. I look forward to the interactions each and every day. I am so very blessed with the people who not only put up with my team killing tendencies but support me in everything I do. So thank you to each and every one of you that make the Xbox Community such an amazing place to be.

I’m not going to tell you to go vote for me because honestly, I don’t think I am the most deserving candidate. I will encourage you to go vote though for a few different reasons, the main one being supporting the community. So many people are in there that deserve recognition, and this is one way to let them know they are doing an amazing job. Secondly, when you vote you have the chance to WIN PRIZES. You guys know my thoughts on free stuff. Dude, free stuff rocks. Gamertag Radio is giving away five prizes to the voters :

1) EA Package (1 Winner)

  • Gilbert Arenas and Kevin Durant signed basketball (NBA LIVE 08 and March Madness 08 cover guy)
  • Kane Bobbleheads (3) and a signed Joe “Kane” Kucan photo (1).
  • A free Copy Of Medal Of Honor

2)Microsoft Package (3 Winners)

  • 3 LIVE is 5 T-Shirts (L or XL at random)
  • 3 copies of PGR4
  • 3 copies of the Halo 3 soundtrack

3)Activision Package (1 Winner)

  • Guitar Hero 3 game and wireless guitar

To qualify for the prizes, you have to vote in every single category and then post in this thread. The whole process won’t take you long. Support your community by being an active participant. Perhaps you will get some free shit. I voted in all of them then posted. I know I am not going to win any prizes by winning so I gotta get something by voting!

(You will also find that I am nominated for Community Member of the Year but I am even less deserving in that category than I am in best blog so we are not even going to go there.)

Seriously, thanks for everything. Thanks for finding me worthy enough to nominate, thanks for reading all my crap, thanks for leaving comments and chatting with me, thanks for playing with me on an almost daily basis, just thanks to everybody in this community that makes it so awesome. Words can’t express how much this all means to me. <3

  1. Congrats Angel, nice work on the nomination! You may not be as big as the other guys, but your blog is insightful, well written, and most of all, entertaining. That’s really all that matters at the end of the day. That and the fact that you are really friendly, open, and that you DO literally respond to every email you get (i have proof!) You deserve the nomination at the very least, let alone a prize. You keep faithfully writing, and we’ll keep being involved as the faithful community. Well done!

  2. Hey BS Angel,

I must say you been very humble and have some amazing articles that I know the community will love once they check it out. The awards isn’t about who gets the most hits but more on who is the person that been working hard and need to get their props. Who is the person that is the most influential in the Xbox Community. Who is that person that is doing something positive for the community in general.

That’s why we nominated you and others for the awards. We get alot of hits but I prefer to give others some shine because all of us do this out of love. I met you only once during PAX and it was a very cool vibe hanging out with you and a few other people.

Keep in touch and if anything you know where to contact me :) Good luck!

Good luck angel! Based on Godfree’s description, you sound as desrving as anyone, so stop being so modest.

I’m going to try to figure out the voting thing, but it sounds like a lot of work, so you had better win if I put in all that effort. ;)

-S- took the words right out of my mouth.

People want to read blogs that have something interesting and entertaining to read everyday and this site does exactly that.

    P.S
I’ll try and vote if I get around to doing it.

  9. This is an awesome site you have here, BS Angel!

I honestly felt like I didn’t fit in either, but if you do it and it helps other gamers, you fit in just fine! (Or at least that’s what I tell myself!)

As far as GAMINGtruth goes, it’s only Dan D and myself with a couple guest reviewers from time to time. Thanks a lot for the kind words!

Love what you have going on here, and I’ll definitely be subscribing to your RSS feed. :D

    Congratulations!

I think that it should always be about to the quality of the blog, not the “professionalism” – everyone who I have introduced to your blog has absolutely loved it, and found articles like the 10 Halo Pickup Lines incredibly funny.
    So props to you. :)
