Xbox-Themed Pumpkin Carving Templates

Are you looking for some inspiration this year for your annual pumpkin carving extravaganza? Would you like to show the world (or at least those pesky neighbor kids) your fondness for a particular gaming console? Xbox.com has four pumpkin carving designs with templates you can download as part of their festive Trix and Treats section.

Available patterns include the power button, the Xbox Live logo, an Xbox 360 console, and the Xbox Jewel logo. Which one will I be doing? As if you didn’t know. I will be carving the power button design, except I will omit the upper right quadrant and simply carve three rings. Then I will place transparent red paper inside the design so when I light a candle, the three rings will shine a brilliant red. That horrific image instantly strikes fear into the hearts of gamers everywhere. Could there be a more perfect design for a truly frightening Halloween pumpkin? I think not.

Custom Mario Brothers Xbox 360 Faceplate

I may have just found the first custom Xbox 360 faceplate made by eBay seller worldwidewebbs that I will actually bid on. All of his faceplates are unique and awesome but this one is simply too cute to resist.

The creator behind several Halo-themed faceplates and one of my personal favorites, the Star Wars-themed faceplate, does an amazing job carrying a particular theme throughout the entire faceplate. One of his more recent offerings felt like it came right off the page of a comic book. I loved that!

His newest piece up for grabs will appeal to Super Mario Brother’s fans. It is titled “Super Mario World NES” and is vividly colorful and bright.

This is a Super Mario World plate. The flower pops up with the help of a button. Press Mario to activate your 360. It also comes with a little flat box with a sound chip from the game that you can attach to the end/top of your 360.

The flower actually pops up. How incredibly cute is that? I really wish he had a few more close up images of this faceplate. I would love to see the finer details on it.

Xbox 360 Arcade Console vs. Nintendo Wii

Microsoft officially announced the release of the Xbox 360 Arcade Console which is available for the low price of $279.99. Included in this bundle is one wireless controller, 256 MB of memory, and five Arcade games (PAC-MAN Championship Edition, Uno, Luxor 2, Boom Boom Rocket, and Feeding Frenzy). Just in time for the holidays, Microsoft has put together a package that allows the consumer to start playing a selection of different titles right out of the box.

I had a chance to speak with Margaret Cobb (from Microsoft) about their most recent effort in reaching out to families and children. Not only is she proud of their newest offering, but she is also quite excited about the different items that will be available in the upcoming months that are all very family friendly. From television shows and movies available to download via Xbox Live to new exciting Arcade titles almost ready for release (SpongeBob SquarePants Underpants Slam and SHREK-N-ROLL, both expected to be 800 Microsoft Points or less), Microsoft certainly seems to be chugging along with their goal of attracting more families to the wonderful world of gaming. In fact by the time the holiday buying season rolls around, they expect to have a selection of over 200 “E” and “Teen” rated games available for purchase. Guitar Hero III, anyone?

Four Things To Do in Forge

Halo 3 has an awesome new feature called Forge which allows you to insert various game objects absolutely anywhere your little heart desires onto preexisting maps. You can make some fun, interesting, or just plain weird altered maps that your friends can then access via file sharing. Some people are using Forge to create awesome gametypes like “Sandtrap Race” (seriously, go download this gametype and map, it is amazingly fun). Here are a few other things you can do with this wondrous feature.

Propose to Your Significant Other
Please be warned that this will only be successful if your significant other is an avid gamer. If your other half despises your obsession with all things Xbox, proposing using Halo 3′s Forge mode might bring you an angry slap in the face instead of the yes you were dreaming of. Assuming your partner in life is also your partner in gaming, asking her hand in marriage this way should be a walk in the park. The easiest phrase to spell out would be “Marry me” but dressing it up would definitely earn you some bonus points. Pretty polka dots made from power ups as a border or a big beautiful ring with an activated bubble shield as the diamond would help you hit that home run. A Forge proposal, who could say no to that?
