Custom Nintendo Wii Wrist Straps for your Wiimote
October 29, 2007 4 Comments
If you own a Nintendo Wii then you are familiar with those boring plain white wrist straps on your Wiimotes. You know what? It’s time to ditch them. I found some cute custom wristbands on Etsy that you can replace them with to further customize your controllers. Please keep in mind that if you have a skin on your Wiimote, you will need to color coordinate between the two. Clashing accessories is a definite no-no.

Blue Feather Wii Wristband

Bite Mii Wii Wristband

Purchase here : Wendigratz’s Shop
Price : $10
Note : I love this one simply for the phrase on it. Bite Mii. See what she did there?
I was concerned about how complicated it would be to take off your current wrist strap and replace it with these custom made ones so I sent a message to the seller asking about the process. Her response :
It’s super easy to change the wristband – I’m attaching a picture of the back or the Wiimote where it attaches. It’s almost like it was designed to easily upgrade. And – since you have technical questions – these wristbands are really strong. Everything is double or triple stitched, all crimps are also glued, and all knots are wrapped around each other and glued for extra strength. We play a LOT with the Wii (my five-year-old daughter kicks my ass in bowling) and I don’t want any Wiimotes flying into my TV.
Looking at the image (simply click to enlarge), it does in fact look easy to do. Good information if you are considering making a purchase. She has a few more designs in her store and also plans on making new ones in the near future so check back often if you like her products!
