How much is your Halo 3 rank worth to you? A resourceful person who goes by CaLL mE nEoN is offering to improve your Halo 3 stats in exchange for a monetary reimbursement. He has a variety of services you can select from (surprisingly enough your mom is not one of them) from unlocking achievements to boosting your rank to raising your skill level to giving you actual lessons on playing the game.

Are you an achievement whore? He can get you up to 500 achievement points for $23. Let’s do a breakdown of what this person is making per hour. My noob-ish guess for the easiest way to attain 500 achievement points for Halo 3 would be completing Campaign on normal (280 points for simply completing each of the 9 individual levels, then getting an additional 125 points for “Campaign Complete – Normal”) yielding a total of 405 points. If you grab all the skulls along the way to add another 90 points on top of that and get 5 kills with the needler for the last 5 points, you will then have a nice even 500 point boost. Let’s give a generous 8 hours for completing that. According to my rough estimates, CaLL mE nEoN would make approximately $2.88 an hour. With each time he solves the campaign though, he will get quicker and more efficient at it, upping his hourly worth.
Here is his breakdown for Prices and Gamerscore :
| 10 GS | $2 | 175 GS | $13 |
| 25 GS | $3 | 200 GS | $15 |
| 50 GS | $5 | 250 GS | $17 |
| 75 GS | $7 | 300 GS | $19 |
| 100 GS | $9 | 350 GS | $20 |
| 125 GS | $10 | 400 GS | $22 |
| 150 GS | $12 | 500 GS | $23 |
What if you aren’t an achievement whore but you are looking to boost your level? The highest level he offers is a 35 in Team Slayer. Lone Wolves and Double Team are capped at 30. If someone is unable to attain those levels themselves, then what do they do once someone else has boosted them up? They can’t play that particular playlist anymore if they can’t compete within that skill level, otherwise their rank that they paid precious money for will instantly go back down. So you are paying someone to make sure you can never play that particular matchmade game again? Makes sense to me. Here is his breakdown for skill level :
LoneWolves
| Level 15 | $3 |
| Level 20 | $5 |
| Level 25 | $7 |
| Level 30 | $10 |
Team Slayer
| Level 15 | $2 |
| Level 20 | $4 |
| Level 25 | $6 |
| Level 30 | $8 |
| Level 35 | $12 |
Team Doubles
| Level 15 | $3 |
| Level 20 | $5 |
| Level 25 | $7 |
| Level 30 | $10 |
If you are overly obsessed with the picture next to your gamertag on Halo 3, there is also a list of prices for ranks. Want a beautiful silver star? That’ll be $18. Looking for three shiny silver stars? That one will be $25. Want a single gold bar? Well that’s free. Here is his breakdown for ranks :
| Recruit | Free | G. Sergeant | $8 |
| Apprentice | Free | Lieutenant | $10 |
| Private | Free | Captain | $13 |
| Corporal | $1 | Major | $15 |
| Sergeant | $4 | Colonal | $25 |
He also gives lessons for singles and teams on how to improve your game. He doesn’t list his gaming resume anywhere though so it’s hard to tell how good your teacher will be. Plus, for the crowd that is attracted to this proposition, I doubt they actually want to take the time to learn. That is much too complicated considering they can hand over a 20, take a nap, and have all the work done for them.
Is there an audience for these services? Apparently so as the post claims to have already gotten results for a handful of people. I can’t knock someone for attempting to make money by playing their favorite video game. However, what about the people that are purchasing these services? How has it gotten to the point that achievements and ranks can actually be given a monetary value? Do the achievements, ranks, and levels still hold any significance if somebody else has to get it for you? I think the answer is obvious on that one. Now go play Halo. Yourself.

Wow, I wonder how many people if any have actually used his services! That is crazy!
Posted by Senor on October 13, 2007 at 5:45 pm
Wow, this is pretty sad not going to lie. If your that desperate to get higher then just fucking play. Why pay someone to make you look like your good when you suck?
Posted by Silvercube on October 13, 2007 at 6:13 pm
Wow. That is absurd.
My rank means nothing to me.
Im just happy I can afford to be a gamer these days : )

Hey, I must learn this game. But I don’t think I will need his help though. I’m pretty good at games. I’m off to play texas hold ‘em. Now , there’s a big buck game. I am hoping for the million dollars. Does he do that?

If he powers up their rank, as soon as they play then they’ll have a high chance that they’ll get slaughtered by real experienced players.
Posted by Angry Chinese Driver on October 14, 2007 at 12:09 am
To Sluggabohn, of course!
Isn’t gold mining infamous in certain RPGs?
And this guy doing YOUR work for you, doesn’t that mean he can screw around with your account if he wants? That’s a big risk for so little money.
Posted by Scott on October 14, 2007 at 2:07 am
wow, I wonder if he is really making money on this. I would not pay to have my rank increased. If you want to know how to make some money online check out my blog

Geez, I can be making some serious dough! $2.88 an hour!? I’m gonna be rich!
Posted by Morpheus on October 14, 2007 at 6:49 am
That IS sad. Millions of poeple willing to let you have achievements for free, and this guy walks up and charges people.
If I knew this guy, I’d spit in his face.

At first I thought that this was a joke, but after some retrospection I must say kudos to this guy.
Sadly, there are those out there with lives so pathetic that they will actually pay for this service. More power to anyone with the brains to take advantage of the situation.

Why would I allow someone to enjoy the game for me?
Posted by ~S~ on October 15, 2007 at 6:48 am
Wow. This reminds me of that ‘amazing offer’ a week ago when that guy put himself up on Ebay saying ‘you can buy my xbl friendship!’ If this guy charges by the level on live, rather than the hour, I wonder how much he seriously thought this plan through? I wanna sign him up to boost my rank in double team, and then spend the entire game like a stoned 4 year old. Running off to play with the turrets on snowbound, grav hammering myself off the level on Epitaph, and of course shooting him every 20 seconds (with the AR, Sniper, Rockets, etc) and then saying “oh sorry man, I thought you were the VIP”. And the beauty is, if he wants to get paid, he’s gotta put up with his client. I guarantee, he’ll never get me to a level 15 in Double Team with those moves, and if he does, it’ll DEFINATELY be the best $3 he’s ever earned in his life. Work hard for that money, baby.
Posted by XMixMasterX on October 15, 2007 at 8:33 am
You can pay me to screw up your LIVE account too!

A friend of mine uses War3 accounts in exchange for monetary fundages… quite impressive.
Posted by Quantifier on October 16, 2007 at 4:04 pm
meh – unfortunately there are those that will pay for status. Can’t blame him for being entrepreneurial enough to separate the willing fools from their money.
Good stuff angel!
Posted by Rob on October 18, 2007 at 9:28 am
I guess you have to give him access to your account to do this – doesnt that also have your cc info tied into it that he could see for Live renewal? I can’t remember and I’m not where I can look at my xbox now, but that seems a little scary…

The best part is that this guy can’t sell you a skill higher than 30.
…………..ROTFLMAO……….OK OK.
Which pretty much means that he himself is a rather mediocre player when it comes to h3 and should be pwnd at any given opportunity. LOOK ME UP BITCH! ILL SHOW YOU WHAT I MEAN!

Hey, this is Neon. I was browsing the Google results I got for Halo 3 Ranks and I saw MY screen name in one of the results. I clicked on it. I think it is amazing that this has gotten out to you guys even. I want to tell you this though, there ARE people out there who pay for these game lessons. People who want to actually succeed at playing th egame, instead of being a dead weight and not being able to get a private rank (lol). It is for people wishing to participate in MLG tournaments which pays a pretty penny to the winners, but it also makes those extreme gamers feel better about themselfs while they eat their fudge bars and ignore the real world. If oyu want to talk to me, here is my contact info:

Like I said, I am amazed it got all the way out to you guys!!!

Uhm. You guys ^^
He makes money off of this. He doesn’t steal accounts and he is good. Don’t talk trash to him because he’s making money off of just playing a game and knowing how to play…
Like said, power to anyone smart enough to take advantage of the situation. He can help you get better, not just boost you.
Posted by bs angel on October 30, 2007 at 11:56 pm
Hey Neon! Welcome to your article! LOL …
I think the general consensus is more power to you for finding a way to make money playing everybody’s favorite video game. I may question the people who use you to boost their rank (only because those numbers are simply not important to me) but the lessons you offer could be valuable to someone wanting to learn some tips quickly.
Best of luck to you :)
Posted by Dirty War Crime on November 6, 2007 at 4:50 pm
To lots of people rank is everything. Some people will stop talking to people they knew for a long time all because of their low rank. I seen this happen many, many times over. If you don’t have a high rank you are nothing.

Well this guys named Just Call Me is a fag and a hacker. In Halo 2 and now Halo 3 they all have names such as Just Call Me this and that. They use many many others as well. They have many clan names as well and one I recall was called Infamous and many more.
They use to go around and hack anyones account that had a high rank and try to sell them or just derank the high rank names to their friends and anyone that would pay for this.
Xbox Live would do nothing about this matter and these Just Call Me guys and girls just get away with this cheating, hacking, and more. They GET AWAY with it people.
So I say if you see them I would not talk to them or use any services they offer. They are a bunch of fraud individuales that need to be delt with in the proper manner such as DIE or go to you know where and BURN.
So whoever they may be, I hope they get the mesg. and know if they ever run across me or the many people that I know and who know them, watch out.
This is to warn all of you as well to watch out for people like this. As you all say who needs to pay someone for skills that you may get yourself. So easy to get a rank and if not have your big bro or sis. get it for you. LOL
Good Luck to you all and watch out for people that do this kinda crap. Bye Bye

I have sold a few 50’s. People actually do buy these accounts. The most I’ve gotton for one level 50 (took 6 hours to get to a 50…) was $135. I usually sold them fo $50. So good article, I find myself wondering why people would buy them myself.
LOL Moment-
After I sold one of the 50’s, I was playing Team Slayer on my level 50 got matched up against him and made him lose his 50!

That’s brutal but hilarious!
Posted by Un Kn OwN on October 9, 2008 at 10:16 am
Wow, i’m absolutely bedazzled by this… I mean this is ridiculous. Seriously guy, yes he’s pretty smart for making this, but I sell 50s for 20 dollars WORTH OF MICROSOFT POINTS. It’s way easier, and I don’t need yout account information. Just play with me and my Clan, you will get a 50 in 2 hours, garunteed. And this shit has nothing to do with MLG, so leave it out of this. You’re account gets better, not the person owning the account. Sweet Dove is correct, this guy’s a bluff and a hackzor. Infamouz, Just Call Me, and TSGH are the biggest hacking clans out there.
